NBA New Year's Resolutions 2008

Lang Greene
Lang Greene gives out New Year's resolutions to all NBA teams for 2008. It's time to separate the contenders from the pretenders as we head into 2008. Some teams will learn from past mistakes, while others will continue walk the path to the NBA lottery.

ATLANTIC DIVISION

Boston Celtics - We will add backcourt depth to our roster in the event Rajon Rondo gets hurt. Earl Boykins is available.

Toronto Raptors - We promise to work with Jamario Moon as he goes through the proverbial rookie wall. We promise not to rush TJ Ford back from his latest neck injury.

New York Knicks - We promise to end the media circus and just play basketball. We promise not to acquire any additional point guards, shooting guards, or small forwards to our roster. We promise to develop Eddy Curry into a big man capable of averaging more than 5 rebounds per game.

New Jersey Nets - We promise to play rookie Sean Williams more than 25 minutes per game.

Philadelphia 76ers - We promise to keep making transactions to clear up cap space to make a run at top free agents in 2008.

CENTRAL DIVISION

Chicago Bulls - We promise to sign Luol Deng after the season. We promise to keep Ben Gordon as our sixth man. The numbers in this role are traditionally better than when he starts. We promise to add a scorer when the opportunity arises.

Detroit Pistons - We promise not to suffer a lack of focus in the playoffs again.

Indiana Pacers - We promise to believe in our young core; Danny Granger & Mike Dunleavy.

Cleveland Cavaliers - We will trade Larry Hughes. We will finally give our King a supporting star.

Milwaukee Bucks - We promise not to issue any more promises for playing time. This is earned during the season, not negotiated in a contract.

SOUTHEAST DIVISION

Charlotte Bobcats - We promise to find a way to play Nazr Mohammed & Emeka Okafor at the same time.

Orlando Magic - We will not allow Dwight Howard to leave us in free agency. We will continue to search for a shooting guard no matter how well Keith Bogans is playing.

Miami Heat - We promise to let Dwayne Wade run the entire show. We promise to give Daequan Cook more playing time.

Atlanta Hawks - We promise to keep our young nucleus in GA. We will not break up our solid drafting and free agent signings.

Washington Wizards - We promise to get healthy for our fans. We promise to give Etan Thomas a fair shot to win back the starting center spot when he fully recovers from his heart ailment.

NORTHWEST DIVISION

Denver Nuggets - We promise to allow Melo and AI develop together. We will acquire a true point guard to take us to the next level.

Portland Trail Blazers - We promise not to make any silly roster that can disrupt our growing chemistry. We promise to find a solid point guard to run our attack.

Minnesota Timberwolves - We promise to surround Al Jefferson with a good supporting cast, though we never really gave Kevin Garnett this luxury.

Seattle SuperSonics - We promise to have a solid draft this year.

Utah Jazz - We promise to keep Andrei Kirilenko happy. We promise to keep Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer together for the next ten years.

PACIFIC DIVISION

Los Angeles Lakers - We promise not to trade Andrew Bynum, a player that most experts said wasn't worth a first round pick a few years ago. We promise to stop blaming Kobe Bryant for all of our mistakes.

Phoenix Suns - We promise to either trade Shawn Marion or squash all future rumors of a deal.

Golden State Warriors - We promise to sign Baron Davis to a long term deal.

Sacramento Kings - We promise to hand the keys to our future over to Kevin Martin.

Los Angeles Clippers - We promise to give Shaun Livingston another chance to prove he is the PG of our future.

SOUTHWEST DIVISION

San Antonio Spurs - We promise to rebuild smartly with younger players after this season.

Memphis Grizzlies - We promise to give Mike Conley more minutes to see if he is the real deal.

Houston Rockets - We promise to admit that bringing Steve Francis back was a mistake. We promise to give Luis Scola more minutes in the post. We will give Dikembe more minutes in what's likely to be his final year.

New Orleans Hornets - We, the fans, promise to support our up and coming team.

Dallas Mavericks - We promise that if given the opportunity to face the Warriors again in the playoffs, that we will sweep them.
