A Fantasy Basketball Guide

Now that the NBA season has begun, we have an early look at who is going to be the top players at each position in the NBA. This list is going to include the top 10 Forwards in the NBA and for your fantasy basketball teams.

Top 10 NBA Forwards 2009-2010

1. Lebron James- Small Forward - Cleveland

Lebron James is the best player in the NBA and is an easy choice as the top forward for the 2009-2010 NBA season. Lebron has started this NBA season with similar stats as he has had the last few years. He is averaging 28 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists so far in 2009. Lebron will also help fantasy basketball teams with his 50% field goal percentage along with a block, a steal, and a 3 pointer a game. Lebron James is the best NBA player in the game and should be the top performing fantasy basketball player for 2009-2010.

2. Kevin Durant- Small Forward- Oklahoma City

Kevin Durant is a proven scorer in the NBA and he has started to produce for fantasy basketball owners in other categories as well. Durant is averaging 28 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block so far in the 2009-2010 NBA season. He also is shooting 88% from the free throw line and will make some three pointers. Kevin Durant has proven that he was the better choice between him and Greg Oden and should continue to be a top performing NBA player for your fantasy basketball team this season.

3. Dirk Nowitzki- Power Forward- Dallas

Dirk continues to be a top NBA forward year after year and the 2009-2010 NBA season should be no different. Dirk is averaging 26 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal so far this season. He is a 7 footer who can make the three pointer and rack up the rebounds. A rare NBA player. Nowitzki should finish the 20092010 NBA season as a top 5 forward and would be a star for any fantasy basketball team.

4. Carmelo Anthony- Small Forward- Denver

Carmelo is currently the top scorer in the 2009-2010 NBA season. He is mainly a scorer but does contribute in other ways also. Carmelo is averaging 30 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal so far this season. After James the next 3 on this list are very comparable . Anthony could very well finish the 2009-2010 NBA season as the second best forward in the NBA and in fantasy basketball.

5. Chris Bosh- Power Forward- Toronto

Bosh has proven to be one of the top forwards in the NBA over the last several years and has gotten off to a great start in the 2009-2010 NBA season. Bosh is averaging a double double with 24 points and 12 rebounds a game. Bosh will give your fantasy basketball team a rebounding advantage over other forwards on this list.

6. Danny Granger- Small Forward- Indiana

Danny Granger really came into his own last season and has picked up where he left off in the 2009-2010 NBA Season. Granger has become one of the best forwards in the NBA. He is averaging 25 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Danny also helps out by grabbing almost 2 steals a game. Granger is an up and comer and would be a great asset for any fantasy basketball team but is especially valuable for a keeper league.

7. Carlos Boozer- Power Forward - Utah

Carlos Boozer has taken over in Utah where Karl Malone left off. He has been a steady double- double player and continues to be in this 2001-2010 NBA season. Boozer is one of the best forwards in the game and is averaging 21 points, 11 rebounds, and shooting over 56% from the field. Boozer has been a top fantasy basketball forward in the past and will continue to shine in this NBA season.

8. Josh Smith- Small Forward- Atlanta

Josh Smith might seem like he does not belong on this best NBA forwards list but read the rest before jumping to this conclusion. Smith is a superstar in Fantasy Basketball because he does well in categories other forwards do not. Smith is leading the NBA in the 2009-2010 Season in Blocked shots at just under 3 a game. This is rare from the Forward position. He also is averaging almost 2 steals a game to go along with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. He is emerging as a great NBA forward and has already become a great Fantasy Basketball player. Watch for him in the coming years.

9. David Lee- Power Forward - New York

David Lee has started the 2009-2010 NBA season with strong numbers. He has found his way to the top 10 NBA Forwards by averaging 18 points, 10 rebounds and 1.4 seals per game. He also shoots over 56 % from the field. David Lee is a good forward and should help your fantasy basketball league this season through his consistent play.

10. Kevin Garnett- Power Forward- Boston

Kevin Garnett is on the decline but still is one of the top 10 NBA forwards. He is averaging 15 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block per game in the 2009-2010 NBA season. Those numbers are not great but I envision they will increase as the year goes on. Garnett was once a fantasy basketball giant but is now just a quality fantasy basketball performer.

Top NBA Rookie Forward 2009-2010- Terrence Williams- New Jersey

Lebron James is truly King when it comes to top NBA forwards. The next 5 or 6 forwards are all pretty close before a decent statistical drop off around number eight. Good luck with your fantasy basketball team this season and thanks for reading.

Amature understanding of the game. Where is Pau? Bosh is an inept under achiever with low basketball IQ, and Granger and KD are not really forwards they are guards.
