NBC Bans PETA Ad from the Superbowl

And Other PETA Banned Ads

I am a member of PETA which stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has more than 2.0 million members and supporters and is the largest animal rights organization in the world. Their attention is focused on four areas where animals suffer the most and for the longest time. They are on factory farms, in laboratories, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry. They also work with cruel killings as in killing birds because there are too many and the abuse of dogs.

PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, and research. I eat fish but truly cannot understand how people if they eat meat don't care how they the animals are treated. In any case PETA had an ad ready for the Superbowl. NBC nixed the ad which shows beautiful women and their love for veggies, NBC said that it "depicts a level of sexuality exceeding our standards." They objected to licking pumpkins, a woman touching her breast with her hand while eating broccoli, asparagus on a woman's lap appearing as if it is ready to be inserted into her vagina among other items they wanted removed. Well it sure would have caught the attention of those who don't care that cows can't move in their stalls. I love football. I love watching football. It is ironic though that the network that shows this violent sport objects to beauty.

This isn't the first PETA banned commercial. Others include Sexy Sausage which deals with impotence. The ad drew attention to the connection between erectile dysfunction and meat-eating. It was considered too racy for the Super Bowl.

Several stations in Louisville, Kentucky, which is the home to the Kentucky Fried Chicken giant chain, didn't like PETA's representation of the Colonel in the trailers for Kentucky Fried Cruelty.

Alicia Silverstone is a vegetarian but she showed it all in PETA's first naked testimonial to vegetables. Veggie PSA was banned in Houston, Texas and was directed by well-know Dave Meyers.

Actor Casey Affleck's (brother of Ben) did a public service announcement called Go Vegetarian. It was banned from many stations in Boston and from networks like MTV. Why? Because it showed what really happens on factory farms. Yes it is graphic but real. (Think Sarah Palin's interview in front of the killing of turkeys!)

New Orleans banned Sex Talk which dealt with a difficult subject: parents talking with their kids about sex. The city of sin (before of after Las Vegas) apparently said that they were not comfortable with the ad that talked about the overpopulation crisis.
