NBC Fires Adrian Pasdar (Nathan Petrelli) from Heroes

Adrian Pasdar was fired from his role as Nathan Petrelli on NBC's hit show, "Heroes". The drop in the show's ratings has long been speculated to be caused by the writer's strike, but some give credit to season 2's lousy story lines in which most of the plots were aimless and had no connection to the original story that was told in season 1. Season 2 saw the drop off of some of the loyal fans that were watching the entire first season. Even with the sagging ratings the cut of Nathan Petrelli from the show caught some of the fans by surprise.

Nathan Petrelli had it all when season 1 began, he had a great family, a great job as a successful newly elected Senator and the big house, but he threw it all away to follow his brother Peter and save New York from nuclear blast. When season 2 began the character seemed to have lost everything.

There was no leaks of the upcoming release of Pasdar and that is why it has caught some of the fans unawares, some point out the end of last season as a foreshadowing of what was to come. Although, it may have been hinted at that Pasdar's character was going to meet an end this season, the actor or those around him, did not come out and let it be known as the reason why or give any indication that he knew beforehand. In fact, NBC has agreed to pay the actor until the end of the season according to Deadline.

This move will no doubt cause some friction in the already fragile fan base. Pasdar's character was a staple in their Heroes diet and whenever a main character is killed off in a series there is always some blow-back. NBC seems to have done this in the hopes of jump starting the ratings again and try to breath life back into the once very popular series.

Adrian Pasdar career took off in 1996 when he took on a role in Profit, a Fox series. He was cast as the title's character, but the series did not last very long. He performed some roles in some Hollywood films, but his biggest break came when he landed the role of Nathan Petrelli on NBC's Heroes. The series shot to the top of NBC's lineup and became a run away hit the first season it was on the air.
