An Unlucky Streak

Misti Sandefur
Janie Callaco returned from last week to see if her luck would change for the better. Unfortunately, she started this week's first round off the same - knocking out some more of the bigger amounts. During her second round she knocked out a couple of the lower amounts, then she revealed some more bigger amounts, and BOOM…she revealed the million dollar case, and also the $500,000. Luck was definitely not on her side! Janie figured there were still a couple high amounts left on the board, so she turned down the $7000 offer to keep playing. Was the third time a charm? It may have been, because she managed to dodge the bigger amounts this time, and this brought her offer from the banker up to $16,000. I guess she started to feel luckier because she turned down the banker's offer. I don't know about you, but after watching the luck Janie was having, I think if it had been me I would have left with $16,000.

By the end of the fourth round Janie had wiped out the entire right side of the board. It wasn't looking good, and the offer made a major drop from $16,000 to $250. See, she could have left with $16,000. After making her way through the fifth round, the highest amount left on the board was $750. At this point I believe Howie got to feeling sorry for Janie, because when the banker called to make another offer Howie said to Janie, "why don't we stick it to the banker, and just have fun with it," and that's exactly what they done. I was even feeling sorry for Janie myself, and the whole time I was feeling sorry for her I said to myself, "that would be my luck too."

Of course the banker had to do his job, he continued to call at the end of each round, and Janie continued to refuse his very low offers. She played the game all the way to the end, and had a chance at $500 or $750. Bless her heart she had the $750 case! Not only did she win $750, but she also won a nice aluminum case to go along with it.

Next up was Brett Kurtz - he called himself "Mr. Mom." Brett chose case number 21, and his luck seemed to start out much better than Janie's. That is until he began opening cases in his second round where he revealed the million dollar case. However, there were still large amounts left on the board, and he turned down the banker's offer for $28,000.

When Howie asked Brett what he would do with the money he won, Brett replied, "I would use the money to take a family trip to Fuji. What, no "family" trip to Disney World? I thought for sure they looked like a Disney family.

By the time Brett finished his third round he had knocked the $750,000 out of play. Again, he said there were still two big numbers left on the board that he'd like to go home with. So he turned down the banker's offer of $34,000.

Find out how if Brett will continue to turn down the banker's offers down on Friday night (March 24, 2006).
