NBC's Deal or No Deal : What Would You Do With a Million Dollars?!

March 17, 2006

Cathy Hamm (a.k.a., The Spam Queen) returned from last week to see if she was holding the million dollar case. This week Cathy brought samples of her Spam for the audience to try; I would just love to get her recipe.

Cathy was on a roll, she knocked out all but two on the low side. Maybe the lucky poker chip she was holding was "lucky." The downside, a penny was still left on the board. However, her luck ran out when she ended up with $.01 and $5000 left on the board. Cathy played it all the way to the end, and ended up winning $5000. The last offer given to Cathy by the banker was $2800.00, so she did at least come out ahead. I probably would have played the same as Cathy did. Yes, I would have even turned down the $187,000 offer from the banker, because there were still high numbers left in play, and the odds were still on her side.

Next up, after Cathy, was Horston Bowen. Horston knocked the million out of play in his first attempt - what a bummer! However, $750,000 remained in play, and Horston continued to play.

When Horston was offered $88,000 he said, "no deal." At this point in the game, if it were me, I would have taken the $88,000 and went home. Moments later, the phone rang; Howie answered it and listened to what the banker had to offer Horston. Howie told Horston the banker would offer him $164,000. Wow, now that's a lot of money! Surely this Marine isn't going to keep playing. His luck hasn't been good from the beginning, and I'm sure it's not going to get any better. I know I'd be happy with $164,000. Do you think Horston's a gambler? Will he take the $164,000 and run with it - all the way to the bank? We'll find out Monday, March 20, 2006, at 8:00 p.m. (EST).

What would you do with a million dollars? Deal or No Deal is all about luck and odds, and there are no hard questions to answer. If this sounds alluring to you, and you would like to try your luck at a million dollars, then keep reading, because I'm going to tell you how you can apply to be contestant on Deal or No Deal.

According to NBC's Web site, there are only four steps you have to take to apply to be a contestant on Deal or No Deal, and they are: "1. Make one five minute videotape, 2. Label the tape with your name, address and phone number, 3. Complete and sign an application and 4. Include a few recent photos of you and your supporters." The application that you will need to complete and sign can be found at http://www.nbc.com/Casting/#dond. In addition, you will also find further information.

If you do apply to be a contestant on Deal or No Deal I would like to share my strategy with you - this is how I would play the game. Keep in mind, when you apply you give them information such as your birthdate, anniversary date and etc.. This means that they know this information, and it's pretty obvious that most contestants use these numbers as the number they will pick. My strategy, don't use the numbers that you know they know. Instead, pick a number they don't know - a number that you haven't given them. If they don't know when you're child's birthday is you could pick that number. Or, maybe they don't know how old your child is, pick that number. This is just my own strategy, and you may use it if you like.

Stay with me, I will be back with my views on the show that is scheduled to air on Monday, March 20, 2006, at 8:00 p.m. (EST). If you have any suggestions for topics that you would like for me to write about, just post your comments and let me know; the topics must relate to Deal or No Deal.

hi howie, i have been watching your shows that you appear in even before deal or no deal and when you had hair. i prefer you bald. i would love to be on deal or no deal. i have seen several US Marines that have severely injured in Iraq and would use some of my winnings to help their family take care of them. the reason why i choose the Marines is that my son is a former Marines, he gave them 8 years of service and they are always close and dear to my heart. i also have a lot of bills that i want to pay off. i had to turn in my SUV and i now owe the bank $8,000 after Toyota sold it and they have sued for the balance. I am just now living from paycheck to paycheck, I have 10 children including two 9 years old twin boys and would like to provide a better life for them. Please help me if you can. Thank you.
