NBC's The Office: A Closer Look at the Talented Cast of Characters
Short Bios on the Cast of This Hit TV Show
In the midst of Reality Television frenzy, here stands The Office. It is recognized for being one of the funniest sitcoms in primetime television. Who's to disagree with them? This show contains so much talent within its actors and actresses which as led The Office to become a great hit in , even though it was derived from the already very successful British version of The Office. Let's take a closer look at the main characters of the cast that makes up this hilarious show:
Steve Carell is the main character, Michael Scott, in the television series. There could not have been a better choice in placing Carell in this role because he pulls off the role of Michael Scott, the boss, so well! His talent in the comedy world showcases so well in this role! He also won a Golden Globe this year for this character. It's easy to understand why Carell was chosen for this role when looking at his film and television credits. He's best known for his role in 40-Year-Old Virgin. I think it's self explanatory what the basis of this character was. He has had other movie credits under his belt including Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy starring Will Ferrell and Bruce Almighty starring Jim Carrey. Although Carell has adapted very well into the movie business, he started off in the television world by voice acting in shows such as The Ambiguously Gay Duo on "Saturday Night Live" and as a regular correspondent on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart." Although Carell was born in Massachusetts, he lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
John Krasinski plays the lovable jokester sales-rep, Jim Halpert, on The Office. He has a crush on his co-worker, Pam, who he teams up with on many occasions to play jokes on Dwight, one of the funniest and quirky co-workers in the office. Krasinski's television credits include "Law and Order: Criminal Intent" and "Ed." Krasinski has been putting his knowledge from studying at National Theater Institute to good use based on his film credits. He has been in Kinsey and Jarhead, just to name a few well known titles. He has at least six movies filming at the moment. This character is definitely going to be just as well known for his movie roles as he is his character in The Office.
Jenna Fischer , who plays Pam Beesly, the office receptionist, is no stranger to television. She has had many television credits under her belt such as, "That 70's Show," "Six Feet Under," and "Spin City," to name a few. She has a few on-screen movie names going to be added to her belt very soon as well. One of the movies, Slither, a horror movie, is scheduled to be released sometime later in 2006. Fischer's character of a reception is not too far fetched for her since she used to work as a receptionist and administrative assistant for many years - maybe that's why she plays her role to a "T!"
Rainn Wilson plays the neurotic and egotistical Dwight Schrute. His character could have been portrayed in so many different ways but Wilson plays him as a gullible and geeky sales rep. Anyone who watches The Office will agree Dwight is a very eccentric character who's comedic timing couldn't be better! As the butt of Jim and Pam's jokes, you can't help but look forward to his time on-screen. Wilson has had quite a few tv credits for his name such as guest appearances on "Monk" and "Six Feet Under." He also starred in Sahara with Matthew McConaughey and is currently filiming two films named My Super Ex-Girlfriend and Mimzy. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and son, Walter.
B.J. Novak is by far one of my favorite characters on this tv series because of laid-back attitude. Although he is passive when it comes to people in the office that frustrate him - it adds for great comedy. Novak plays the office intern, Ryan Howard, who Carell's character is always trying to be friends with. Novak has been on other television shows such as "Punk'd" created by Ashton Kutcher in playing practical jokes on celebrities. His talent in comedy led him to be labeled as one of the "Ten Comics To Watch" in 2003 by Variety magazine. He currently resides in Los Angeles.
There are a number of other people on the show that are not always in every episode, however, their time in each episode leads to a lot of laughs. Make sure to watch this show on Thursday nights at 9:30 p.m. on NBC and be prepared to laugh throughout the entire show! For all you administrative workers out there that check out this show, I guarantee you'll be surprised at how much it reminds you of your office! Okay, so you won't have an office olympics but I'm sure the jokes, meetings and annoyances you find throughout the show are somehow a part of your job which makes this show that much better because it's so relatable! You won't be disappointed!
