NBC's The Office: The Romance of Pam and Jim Heats Up This Season

Randall Schoff
The ever-burning romance between Pam and Jim on NBC's hit comedy could potentially head in the direction that most of the show's fans would like to see. Apparently Jim has turned down the job at Corporate. And in last season's finale, Jim stormed into the scene and asked Pam out to dinner. Finally, some resolve! It was getting to be as bad as waiting for Angela and Tony on "Who's The Boss" to finally take the relationship to the next level. What did that take? Ten Years? We all know that "Roy" is not good enough for the always cute and huggable Pam. What is it about that girl? She exemplifies every adorable office girl, especially one that needs proper attention and deserving love.

Let's hope the writers don't let the romance between Jim and Pam get too mushy. We still need some tension. And let's hope that the somewhat dorky Jim can defend himself when the football player build of Big Roy slams Jim down on the asphalt in the parking lot. I think that fight is inevitable. If Jim and Pam look too cutesy together, that will be a total turnoff. Just like in a real office situation, isn't it gross when the "new" office couple flaunts their flirtations for all to see? Yuck! Get a room!

Apparently in real life, Pam, Jenna Fischer, is getting divorced. Man, I wonder if she'd go for an overweight country boy in between jobs from Ohio? If you read this Jenna....

She was on Letterman weeks ago, and I must say, she cleans up real good. On "The Office", she always appears kind of average and dressed down. But this look is appealing to the public too...the male public that is. She's the type of girl that you just want to take on a picnic, or go all night fishing with. Okay, I think I'm finished sounding like a stalker.

Anyway, the fans await the new season. The show's characters are the best on television. Not since Seinfeld has there been a better character development. Dwight is just unbelievably funny and it seems his every word becomes a classic line. Michael is the perfect boss too. Jeez, how many bosses have we known that have some of the same oblivious qualities? Yet, he is kind-hearted when it really comes down to crunch time.

Notice too that many of the stars are involved in the production of the show. Ryan, or his real name, B.J. Novak, has written and produced several episodes. Who would have thought that Ryan, the office temp, would be the one to head to Corporate for the big promotion? And his line at the end of this past season's finale was absolutely perfect. "We're done," he simply said to his nagging girlfriend, without even making eye contact with her. The great writing and unforgettable characters will keep fans coming back for more every week for many years. The repeats are already classics like Seinfeld, and even Andy Griffith. Hope this show never ends.
