NCAA Basketball Tournament 2010 Predictions May Vary

Robert Dougherty
NCAA basketball tournament 2010 predictions are now in full force. The NCAA basketball tournament predictions will conquer offices and watercoolers everywhere for days to come. Every pundit or would-be expert will analyze the bracket, to find the upsets and the champions few will pick. Some will go straight chalk the whole way, while others will have wild picks to get to the Final Four, or even win it all. However, the NCAA basketball tournament 2010 predictions will not be unanimous, as there are no heavy favorites or untouchable teams, period.

In the past, there have always been a few certainties after the first weekend and teams that couldn't be stopped towards the Final Four. Last year, North Carolina was that kind of team as they took all the drama out of the championship. But as everyone knows this year, no program has that kind of power.

With that in mind, the NCAA basketball tournament 2010 predictions are bound to vary. If one picks a team other than Kansas or Kentucky to win it all, they might not be far off. If they pick a third or fourth seed to cut down the nets, they could be proven right. One can even pick a double digit seed like Cornell or Siena to go far, and it won't sound totally nuts.

The closest thing to a favorite is Kansas since they've been number 1 most of the year. But the NCAA basketball tournament predictions might vary on Kansas, since they have a tougher bracket than expected. Ohio State, Georgetown, Michigan State, Maryland and Tennessee are with them, so the Jayhawks may not get out of the Midwest unscathed.

Even the second best team in the country, Kentucky, might be a popular upset pick in the East. Despite their young superstars, there are still doubters who think John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins are too young to win in April. Therefore, NCAA basketball tournament 2010 predictions might select West Virginia, which won the all-powerful Big East, to get to Indianapolis instead.

Syracuse and Duke might be easier picks for the Final Four, but even they are iffy. The Orange lost two in a row, have an injured center, and no team that lost the first game of their conference tournament won it all.

NCAA basketball tournament 2010 predictions are even harder to make for Duke, since they haven't been past the Sweet 16 in years. However, the South has even more questionable teams like Villanova, Purdue and Baylor behind them, so it's hard to say who could catch fire.

Kansas should be the most popular pick, given their record and experience. Yet one shouldn't hinge their NCAA basketball tournament 2010 predictions on the Jayhawks, since any team can have a bad game. That is especially true this season, as upsets could rule the day - which might make it harder and easier to win the office pool this year.
