Kansas got the number 1 overall seed in the Midwest bracket, with a lot of big names among them. Ohio State is behind them at No. 2, followed by Georgetown, Maryland, Michigan State and Tennessee. The Jayhawks have Lehigh first, then a matchup with either UNLV or Northern Iowa. Other potential matchups would pit Ohio State and Georgetown in the Sweet 16, and maybe a rematch of Kansas and Tennessee in the regional final, if the Volunteers catch fire.
The second place No. 1 seed in the NCAA bracket 2010 is Kentucky in the East. But the Wildcats could face a lot of physical, low scoring teams, led by West Virginia as the second seed. New Mexico follows at three, with Wisconsin, Temple and Marquette at 4-6. Temple has a dangerous first round game against Cornell, while underachieving teams Texas and Wake Forest meet in the 8-9 game.
The NCAA bracket 2010 has Duke as the third ranked No. 1 team, and not the fourth. As such, the Blue Devils will go South instead of West. Villanova is the second seed, despite a 2-5 record in their last seven games. Baylor is placed third, as they could play the Sweet 16 in Houston. Struggling Purdue slid to fourth, where they will face Siena, with Texas A&M fifth and Marquette sixth.
Finally, Syracuse got sent to the West as the final No. 1 seed, in a somewhat surprising move. Their NCAA bracket 2010 has Kansas State as the second seed, followed by Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt and Butler. Gonzaga is the eighth seed and will face Florida State, while bubble teams Florida and Minnesota got the 10'th and 11'th seed.
Overall, the Big East lead the way with eight teams, as expected, while the Big 12 got in seven. The ACC got six teams in, with the Big Ten getting give, although Illinois was kept out. With Florida getting in over Mississippi State, the SEC got four teams, all from the Eastern division. The Mountain West got just as many teams into the NCAA bracket 2010 with four, while the Pac 10 was lucky to get two.
Here is how the NCAA bracket 2010 looks for the first round. The Midwest bracket winner will face the West champion, with the East paired against the South
