NCAA Football Predictions, Best Bets for Week 2

Wordsleuth
These are the best bets for the second weekend of the 2007 NCAA football season. They are not guaranteed winners, nothing is guaranteed, but they are the best that are available for the weekend. All lines are gathered from BetUs.com. Home team is in caps.

Week 1 NCAA Football Picks

Wordsleuth's AC Record in 2007:
3-4-0

Wordsleuth's NCAA Football Record:

3-4-0

Breakdown of record at the bottom.

Alabama -3.5 over VANDERBILT

Nick Saban knows how to coach and he should be ready for his first conference away game versus Vanderbilt. I would feel more comfortable if the line was under or equal to a field goal, but the Crimson Tide should get it done.

Rice +6.5 over BAYLOR

Baylor isn't very good at all and Rice is an up and coming young team. Rice lost their best receiver from last year but they should be able to put enough points on the board to keep within a touchdown. Baylor put no points up last week.

KANSAS STATE -18 over San Jose State

Kansas State looked impressive against Auburn and almost pulled off the upset before Auburn came back in the last few moments. Hopefully Kansas State will use their good showing as motivation and beat San Jose State handily. Kansas State is a good, young team.

California -14 over COLORADO STATE

Colorado State lost last weekend at Colorado, but no matter hoe good either team is that is always a close rivalry game. This week they have California and they probably won't be able to stop Cal's offense from scoring, Tennessee couldn't. Two touchdowns doesn't seem like enough.

GEORGIA -5 over South Carolina

Steve Spurrier hasn't beaten Georgia since he took over at South Carolina. If he couldn't beat them the last two seasons, and last season at home, than he can't beat them this season. Georgia looks pretty good this season.

EAST CAROLINA -5.5 over North Carolina

East Carolina's defense is underrated and North Carolina just isn't that good. UNC should have some trouble scoring points against ECU this weekend.

TEXAS TECH -24 over Texas El-Paso

Texas Tech put up the fireworks again last weekend. Texas Tech should be able to blow out the Miners with their explosive offense. 3 touchdowns and field goal may be a little much, but it is a better bet to back the home team here.

WESTERN MICHIGAN +1 over Indiana

Western Michigan is a good little team from the MAC. They should be able to handle Indiana at home. Indiana looked awful last week.

LSU -13 over Virginia Tech

LSU and Virginia Tech is the game of the weekend but if all goes the way it seems it shouldn't be close. LSU looks to be an amazing team this season and I just don't trust VT's Glennon in big games, especially against the LSU defense (which had 6 picks last weekend). The only chance VT should have is if the defense and special teams put some points on the board again.

LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE +1 over Ohio

Louisians-Layfayette is a pretty good football team from the Sun Belt Conference and Ohio is a good team from the MAC. Both have chances for their conference championships this season and this should be a good game to watch. I will take the better quarterback and the plus points for the home team here.

Too many forecasters aren't giving USF the credit it deserves. Where's your USF prediction? How do you see the game next week with Rutgers? I know you can't catch them all, but, hey, they're BCS Poll #2!
