The NCAA Tournament in the Southwest Region will include a few possible upsets and some solid favorites advancing to the Sweet 16. Kansas has struggled as a No. 1 seed in the past and there is no need to look back any farther than last year when they lost to Northern Illinois in the 2010 NCAA Tournament.

San Antonio Southwest Regional Winners

The Kansas Jayhawks are the No. 1 seed in this region and they take on Boston University as the No. 16 seed. Kansas has always struggled in the early rounds but their game against Boston should be a walk in the park for once. Their second round game on the other hand.

The No. 8 UNLV Runnin Rebels will face the No. 9 Illinois Fighting Illini in what may be the best game of the regional. UNLV has faced some stiff competition on their schedule and they will have the upper hand when they face Illinois in this game.

The game between Kansas and UNLV could be a barn burner. If UNLV is hitting their three point shots at their recent pace they could jump out to a lead on Kansas and with Lon Kruger's defense this team could contain Kansas. Take UNLV in this game to once again deny Kansas a Sweet 16 bid.

The No. 12 Richmond Spiders take on the No. 5 Vanderbilt Commodores and heading into this game the Spiders are the better shooting team. Vanderbilt comes from the SEC which has been suffering through a down year and this may be the best chance for a 12-5 upset on the NCAA Tournament bracket. Take Richmond over Vanderbilt.

Louisville is the potential competition that will face the Spiders in the next round. Louisville takes on Morehead State and they should cruise in their first round game. Louisville is also shooting worse than Richmond and this game may come down to the bet team under the basket. Louisville averages 36 rebounds per game and Richmond averages 33. Louisville will win a tough game in the second round and advance to the Sweet 16.

Georgetown and Purdue should have easy first rounds and then they will collide in the second round in one of the better games in the second round. Georgetown is the better shooting team and Purdue lost their last two regular season games heading into this game. Take Georgetown to make the Sweet 16.

The Texas A&M Aggies will take on the Florida State Seminoles in a 7-10 game and the No.10 Seminoles will have the edge against the Aggies on the boards. Neither team is in the top 100 in shooting percentage and neither team is going to run the other out of the gym. Take Florida State to move on to the second round.

Notre Dame may be the hottest team heading into the NCAA Tournament and if they can get through the first two rounds they will have a great opportunity to make the Final Four. Notre Dame should also have no issues with Florida State in the second round. As the No. 2 seed, Notre Dame may have the easiest path to the Final Four.
