NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament 2010 Day 2 Preview

The NCAA women's basketball tournament 2010 concludes its first round today. But the NCAA women's basketball tournament 2010 could face the beginning of the end, since Connecticut takes the court today. For all of the power teams in this field, the Huskies still tower over all else, and perhaps tower over all rivals in history. As such, this entire bracket could be just a coronation for Connecticut, and if it is, their parade starts today. But while Connecticut may begin destroying the NCAA women's basketball tournament 2010 competition, 30 other teams will try to start their own runs today.

Four games will be played just after noon, with four in the mid afternoon, four at around 7 pm, and four in the late hours. In today's opening pod, Ohio State started it off against St. Francis at 12:06 pm est, with Vanderbilt playing DePaul starting at 12:11. But at 12:16 pm, the real stars of the NCAA women's basketball tournament 2010 began their road to history.

Connecticut is playing at Norfolk, Virginia in the opening round, instead of at Storrs. Nevertheless, the Huskies are expected to breeze to victory #73 in a row against Southern. If someone will actually lose to Connecticut by less than 10 points in this tournament, it may not come yet.

The final early game has Wisconsin facing Vermont at 12:21, before the mid-afternoon matches start. In that section, Temple and James Madison meet for the right to face the Huskies next, while Notre Dame starts against Cleveland State, Xavier takes on East Tennessee State, and Mississippi State clashes with Middle Tennessee State.

Unlike yesterday, the night section of the NCAA women's basketball tournament 2010 schedule starts just after 7. The first night games are highlighted by Nebraska - which was the other unbeaten team in women's basketball - taking on Northern Iowa. Countless comparisons to yesterday's Northern Iowa-Kansas game are likely to be made at first, although the Cornhuskers may be bigger favorites than the male Jayhawks.

At 7:11 pm, Texas hosts San Diego State, with Georgia Tech facing Arkansas Little-Rock at 7:16, and Virginia playing Wisconsin Green-Bay at 7:21. At around 9:30 pm est, the NCAA women's basketball tournament 2010 concludes round one, with West Virginia vs Lamar, Iowa State vs Lehigh, Oklahoma vs South Dakota State, and UCLA vs N.C. State.

Once again, the women must share the attention with the men, although with Connecticut in action, they're bound to get some press. However, on Monday and Tuesday, they will be playing alone while the men rest up. Thus far, the round of 32 looks to be straight chalk, as every single high seed won yesterday, and it doesn't look any better for the lower seeds today.

Could the NCAA women's basketball tournament 2010 have a perfect 32-0 record for favorites heading into the second round? It sounds crazy, especially with how hard the male favorites have fallen. But conventional wisdom has held firm for the women this year, particularly with Connecticut.

The action begins at noon on the ESPN family of channels, before the tournament goes to prime time on Monday and Tuesday.
