Mourning Jewelry, Old Fashioned Medical Tools, Objects Des Mortes - at Melrose Ave LA

Los Angeles California has doubtlessly a lot of things for many People, but if you enjoy the unusual and slightly macabre in a setting of class and timelessness you simply have to take a trip down Melrose Ave and stop in Necromance.
Necromance has two separate Stores located within 5 Stores apart. Each offering a specialized area to the seeker of unique items. The first one is devoted to nothing but animal bones, carcasses and more. It is set up on a bit more modern and "fresher" presentation and probably closer to what would be mainstream acceptable.
The second one is the one I urge you to check out. It is an experience that we have raved about to your personal friends ever since we came back.

Follow me in a quick tour into the Store.

You are standing in front of a Store Window at 7208 Melrose Ave Los Angeles CA 90046. The Store window is held in black and a rich dark purple, a tiny coffin replica was in the store window when we came in. As you open the front door you immediately get the feeling as if you have stepped back in time to about the Bonnie and Clyde Era and you hear music that belongs into a Funeral March which you would have heard in New Orleans before the catastrophe. The entire décor is set in a black or better yet dark manner. Knight Armor is the first thing you will see as you open the door and he bids you via a sign to enter if you dare. On your left hand side is a locked cabinet that holds very old fashioned medical supplies. The word creepy may enter your mind.

On your right is another cabinet that holds original antique funeral jewelry. The pieces are exquisite and definitely collectors Items that you would be proud to display in your curio cabinet at home. At this point you should be greeted by a very pale skinned lady named Stella. I have to tell you that this Shopkeeper could not have been better chosen. She gives this place the atmosphere of truly entering a weird and almost ghoulish Realm all of its own. Her hair light blond and her make up done in black and smeared red lipsticks she reminds you of the doll from Nightmare before Christmas. She is friendly, but reserved and strangely appealing to the eye. She is very helpful and knowledgeable and you will be more the pleasantly surprised at her customer service.

As my Daughter describes the feeling it was like walking into a dark museum with the option to purchase.
Along the left hand side of the Store you find medical Items (including scalpels, overly large syringes with huge needles and bone saws plus more), Occult Jewelry, and Deathly Holographic Artworks as you may see in the haunted Mansion in Disney World. Are you familiar with the ones I describe? If not let me explain it this way. You walk up on these very old fashioned Photograph of People in the 1800 and as you pass by, the Art changes and suddenly you look upon the same person murdered and partially decayed in a horrific depiction of death.

You can not help but be drawn into this place. If you are like so many of us, fascinated by death and macabre you will feel right at home here.

On the other side of the Store you find an old fashioned Book Case with offerings of original print Fairy Tale Books from 1945 and older, as well as books of the likes of Death Scenes, Demonic Writings etc. Broken Dolls and more. It is as if you are standing in front of a demonic Nursery.
Along the Walls you can see reproductions of X-rays of human skeletons that are in one way or the other mutilated. A large Book sits open that shows you how to make cuts with a scalpel into the human body. (Hannibal Lechter may have owned a book like that in his library) Pictures of Freaks or should I say drawings of them are available as well.

Prices are from a low $1.00 for a unique Postcard to over $400 for a Nazi Straight Razor.

Looking for gothic or dark lifestyle Home Decoration that you will not easily find anywhere else, make certain you pick a couple up at the store. Skulls in so many variations.

If you just want to look around for some of their offerings you can check out their online Store as well, but I am letting you know right now, you will miss out if you don't take the trip and walk in your-self. It is an experience you will not forget. And remember...

Halloween is right around the corner, what a perfect Store to visit at this time of the Year.

Please tell Stella that I send my greetings and will be back very soon!!!
