Are you looking to get out and get some exercise? Do you like to play baseball or softball but can't find other's to play with you? Try the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District's softball leagues! They have an adult slow pitch softball league that will fit any person's schedule and ability!

Adult Slow Pitch Softball is offered nearly yearlong. There are three seasons, Spring and Fall, which are 12 week long, and summer, which is 8 weeks long. Usually there are two to three weeks between season which means you can have continuous play year long.

The district has leagues for males, females and also a co-ed league. Games are played on Sundays throughout the day and Wednesday nights. The league can accommodate as many as 48 teams for Sunday and 24 teams for Wednesday during the Spring and Fall seasons according to the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District website. Summer season the teams are reduced but there are many openings to play because people often take the summer off due to vacations.

The league fee is five hundred dollars per team. Maximum amount of people that are allowed to play on a team are sixteen people. If you're part of a team of sixteen the price per person is about thirty-two dollars.

But what is Adult Slow Pitch Softball?
It's played with up to sixteen players. Four people in the outfield and six in the infield. Rather than pitching the ball in regular baseball or softball manner the ball is thrown slowly in the air and it has to arch at least six inches over the head of the batter. A strike is given when the ball is thrown arching six inches over the head of the batter and also striking home plate or the pad that extends about twelve inches behind home plate. Every batter starts with one strike and one ball before beginning batting. Each team is allowed a rover who can play the closer to the infield than regular outfielders. In the co-ed league the outfields, excluding the rover, can't play in front of several sets of cones when women are batting. This eliminates pulling the outfielders to play short for weak batters.
Games are played for an hour and ten minutes. There is a mercy rule which means the game will be ended if a team is ahead by fifteen runs during the fifth inning.

Teams have players ranging in age from 16 to late 60s. Games are relaxed and everyone is there to have fun! Often players joke between each other and become good friends over the season.
So if you're looking for a way to keep active, have fun, and make friends the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District Adult Slow Pitch Softball may be the place for you!
