How about starting a fitness center specifically for children? Most adult health clubs have very strict requirements regarding how and when children can use the exercise equipment. Your fitness center would be specifically designed for kids and the staff would receive specialized training on how to train and coach them to reach their fitness goals. You could also have a registered dietician on staff to provide nutritional counseling and a healthy snack bar with lots of low fat, low sugar options designed specifically for kids.
You would want to provide a variety of fun activities and classes designed with younger people in mind so the kids would be enthusiastic about coming to your fitness center. Classes would be designed around activities favored by kids and would be enhanced by the kind of music preferred by younger people.. Your fitness center would become a sort of healthy hangout for kids to visit after school lets out. Parents would wholeheartedly endorse it for it's role in keeping their child's weight under control.
You could also have a special room where kids could host parties for their friends with healthy food provided by your on-site cafe. Marketing to the party attendees would be a fabulous way to promote your fitness center. You could also market by doing joint ventures with the local schools and sponsoring some of their sporting events. Another effective marketing method would be to give talks to local civic organization on the growing problem of childhood obesity. Networking with pediatrician offices would also be another potential source of referrals.
The ideal location for your new fitness center would be in a high traffic area adjacent to a school where you could draw from the school population. A big, highly visible sign that could easily be seen from the road should bring lots of inquiries and interest.
This business could be a real asset in your community as you're helping to solve a problem of great concern to many parents. At the same time, you'll occupy a defined niche market that's currently underserved in most cities since children are often not given free access to adult fitness centers. It's a business that could earn you a nice profit while making an important contribution to society. With a little market research and planning, you coud have a winning business idea on your hands!

Post a CommentA fitness centre for children sounds like a really good idea. A lot of children need all the support they can get.
