My co-worker suggested I check out this Manhattan salon (between Chelsea and the Flatiron District) and ask for Liz Vacco. I figured I had nothing to lose and was desperate to find a great hair stylist. The location worked out well because it happens to be just a couple blocks from my office at 22nd Street in between 5th and 6th. I entered Soon Beauty Lab and soon met Liz Vacco. I was immediately impressed how attentive she was during my consultation. She knew right away by looking at my hair texture, best facial features and taking into consideration how much time I spend each day on hair care, what direction to guide me. This is really important for me when I see a hair stylist.
I love going to Liz because she really wants me to feel and look the best that I can. She does this by paying attention to detail. She cuts my hair not only wet but details and customizes it when it's dry. This summer I found a hairstyle and color in a magazine editorial that I really wanted to get done for my sister's wedding. I tore out the page and brought it into the salon. Liz did an excellent job at matching not only the style but the color. I never knew I could get my hair to such a rich brown!
I also like going to see Liz at Soon Beauty Lab because there doesn't seem to be a pretentious attitude that I seemed to have found in many Manhattan salons. The receptionists are nice and there is a humble, down-to-Earth vibe at the salon. This isn't a hoity-toity joint.
If you haven't found a competent hair stylist in Manhattan, I strongly encourage you to see Liz Vacco. The salon is located at 22nd Street between 5th & 6th - phone number 212-243-0245. There is a second location - I believe it is in the East Village on 10th or 11th (I'm not totally sure because I always go to the 22nd Street location).
