Need a Great Team-Building Activity? Try Meal Assembly!

Meal Assembly is a Revolutionary Way to Prepare Meals for Your Family - It's Also a Fun Group Activity!

A few months ago, a co-worker of mine suggested that we get together for a team building activity. She had recently discovered Super Suppers, a meal assembly store (see my article Easy Meal Planning Meal Assembly Saves Time and Money), and thought it would be fun if we all went together. If enough of us went and ordered an average of six entrees apiece, the group would receive six free! Several of us signed up and off we went.

Because we had a large group, we were able to reserve the whole store. The store owners served samples of several of the entrees and circulated with glasses of wine for everyone, making sure all of our questions were answered. They also demonstrated how to assemble one of the more challenging meals, a stuffed, braided bread that was delicious. It was great to be able to relax and be ourselves, talking as loudly as we wanted to each other without fear of disturbing other customers. The meals are so simple to put together, everyone in the group can participate, even if they don't know how to cook.

Meal assembly is made even easier and more fun when you team up. I brought my husband, and we assembled some healthy meals together, which was fun and sort of romantic in a weird way (we're foodies, what can I say!), and then split up to complete the last ones to finish sooner. Even when we split up, we were able to stay close enough that we could still talk. Kids are sometimes welcome depending on their age, as long as they're closely supervised. My teenage daughter will probably come with us some time since she wants to learn how to cook.

One thing that was fun about going with my co-workers was that between all of us, we bought all of the entrees. We were able to watch each other to see how the meals were put together, and we were able to compare notes later to see who liked what so we could decide whether we wanted to try something the next time, and what to avoid. Some of us bought full entrees, then split them and traded halves for greater variety.

This worked out so well that when one of our co-workers had a baby, we chipped in and bought several meals for his family. My husband and I assembled them, and my co-worker and his family were very happy to receive them! It relieved a lot of the stress on the family brought on by their new daughter.

Meal assembly is a great idea, and even more fun with a group. It's great to get out of the office every once in a while and do something different, and in this case we were assembling simple, nutritious meals for our families to make our lives a little easier! What friends do you have who would join you?
