Need Help Poster-izing Your Room?

As a college student, I look forward to the start of the new semester in more ways than one. College students across the country move into dorm rooms or new cheap houses that they pay low rent. I always enjoy decorating my room with interesting posters that seem to lighten up the room and make it more exciting than a room with plain and dull white paint. Here are my inside secrets and tips for how I decorate my room with posters and signs and how you can too.

There are various categories of posters that you can chose from such as sports, models, fashion, music, bands, etc. As a huge sports fan, I enjoy decorating my room on one side with posters of my favorite players such as Dwayne Wade of the Miami Heat, Shaquille O'Neil, and Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers. I like getting them in a dunking form or in the air which makes the poster seem that much cooler than the player just posing for the cameras.

Models: as a guy, you have to have pictures of female models don't ya? A picture of a hot movie star or sports gal is a popular favorite among guys and I know that the ladies hang pictures of handsome guys on their wall as well such as Justin Timberlake.

Slogan Posters: Slogan posters are my personal favorite as the poster comes with a big picture with a small slogan or word on the bottom of the poster. For example, my favorite poster on my wall has a picture of 5 fraternity guys each holding a symbol of a fraternity in the pledging process. One man is holding a beer bottle, another has a fraternity paddle in his hand, another has rope, another has white gloves on and the last man is holding a small ram in his hand with a rope which is rather funny. On the bottom of the picture says the word in big capital letters "PLEDGING" with a small slogan under that saying "fulfilling the bonds of brotherhood through time honored traditions." As a guy in a fraternity, I love seeing this poster each time I enter my room.

Another popular slogan poster I have seen has a picture of three guys, clearly drunk with one guy in the middle slumped over and being held up by his two other friends on each side laughing and smiling. The bottom caption of the poster says the words, "Because there is no I in drunk."

Other categories of posters I have seen contain jokes like "yo mama jokes" or "Bushisms" which make fun of President Bush. Other posters include jokes along the theme of "anything that can go wrong will go wrong."

Finally, I have seen symbolic pictures such as a table of periodic elements and another table that is based on that model but has alcoholic drinks listed instead.

Finally, some people do in fact create their own posters which are a fun and creativity activity for you to do with your friends.

In terms of layout, spread the posters around the walls of the room and don't clutter them together. Make the room lively and not dull. You should have a fine looking room in no time.
