Need a Honeymoon Destination? Try Long Beach!!!!!
Neighborhood: Long Beach
Long Beach, CA 90802
United States of America
So you live in a suburb of Indiana, and you have been planning and saving all your life to go on a honeymoon in some tropical paradise, but, like all of us working stiffs, you don't really have enough for Jamaica, Fiji, or even Honolulu. Plus, you're scared of international travel. What? With terrorist threats, military coups, the high cost of airline travel, all that, you're reconsidering all your dreams?

Well you're not alone. As Much as we hate to admit, in the 5 years since 9/11, everyone in America has altered their travel plans, honeymooners included. There are some alternatives that offer a lot of what you find in the tropics. The Most obvious being Las Vegas, but why not travel just a little further west, and come to Long Beach, CA?

Am I nuts? Maybe, but don't stop reading. I will prove to you that you, the reader need to investigate Long Beach as a possible destination for Honeymoons.

1) Tropical Climate.

Being Southern California, Long Beach has a climate very Similar to a tropical isle. It is generally slightly foggy in the morning, but when that burns off, it is a moderate mid 70's just about year round. Since Long Beach is located near an ocean, the climate includes a nice ocean breeze, some days more breezy than others, but you get the idea.

2) Beach? We got Beach!!!

There is plenty of sand surrounded by ocean here, and if you don't like the ones here, a cab ride away are some of the best, most famous beaches in the World. In Long Beach, you are 30 minutes from Venice, 45 From Santa Monica, 15 from Huntington, 45 From Dana Point, one hour from Malibu. etc.

3) Lots of hotels!

Downtown has several Hotels, but Guess what? They also have several hotels in Seal Beach, Sunset Beach, North Long Beach, Cerritos, Carson, and several other surrounding communities, and you can usually get rooms reasonably.

4) Nightlife!

Long Beach has an amazing nightlife. If you are looking for Blues, Reggae, Latin Dancing, or funk, there is a club for you. In Fact, with places like Club Cohiba, you might find all those in one spot. Need to see big name, live Acts? Long Beach has The Vault 350, which rivals the House of Blues as a venue. Seventh street alone has several great night spots where you can hear great bands or shimmy to a great DJ. Then, there's Belmont Shores, where you can walk the strip and fins several little pubs, Live Music at Pamama Joe's, or get some of the best Martini's in the world at The Crow.

5) Celeb Watching!

The 7th street area has become a good spot for celebrity watching. Especially During the Long Beach Grand Prix, but you can find celebrities partying in Downtown frequently, and they occasionally wander out to Belmont as well. A lot of celebrities try to go places where they will not be known so easily, and as such Long Beach provides a safe Haven. It's close enough to home, but far enough from the Paparazzi that the Celebs just walk amongst us!

6) Cost effectiveness

According to Cheaptickets.com, the average ticket to Kingston, Jamaica from Indianapolis, ID is about $1200. I am sure with a little searching you might be able to do better.
The Average ticket to Long Beach, from Indianapolis, ID is about $850. You can rent a whole lot more Jet Skis and para sailing gear with the extra $350. And the tropics were recently hit by hurricanes, so you might want to wait a little while anyway! If you really need to have a Jamaican experience, there are two Jamaican themed restaurants in the downtown area, and a few clubs playing Reggae!

7) Besides, what do you really need in a honeymoon?

A Bedroom, in which case, I refer back to number 3. there has been a big construction boom in the greater Long beach area, that has included several great hotels. You can get a basic private room, a room overlooking the ocean, a room with a great city view, or your basic dark, private room, all right here, and for significantly less than traveling abroad!

So have I convinced you? Look into long beach for your next vacation, but you honeymooners in particular, save your money for house payments, and look for my next article "Why you need to move to Long Beach!" Just kidding.......
