Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America Announces 1,014 Jobs Coming to Charlotte, North Carolina
Neighborhood: Charlotte Metro Area
Charlotte, NC 28202
United States of America
According to the Charlotte Observer the city of Charlotte, North Carolina got a boost of good news with the announcement of 1,014 new jobs being created at the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America office in Charlotte, NACA is a nationwide nonprofit based in Boston, Massachusetts that helps low-income to middle class families obtain mortgages without a down payment or closing costs.

The Charlotte Observer also reported that NACA has committed to spend approximately $4.5 million in the Charlotte area over the next five years in relation to the 1,014 new jobs planned in the area. The job creation news couldn't have come at a better time with all the local banks such as Bank of America and Wells Fargo previously "Wachovia" cutting employees during this current economic crisis. Also, Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System had cut over 1,300 employees as well with its recent budget crunch and with plans to cut more if money is not available from the state government who's in the red around $4 billion dollars. Hopefully, with the announcement NACA will start to hire employees so the ex bank and school system employees can apply and find a job in the community that is already scarce on open jobs.

The governor of North Carolina was in Charlotte, North Carolina today June 11, 2009 to announce the creation of jobs. Personally, I think she's trying to get face time with the public to avoid all the criticism that she's been under since taking office where she's cut school teachers pay .5% to try to close the gap on the budget shortfall.

Hopefully, she's not taking credit for someone else's hard work in attracting the jobs to Charlotte. The jobs will be focused on the mortgage industry so people may have to make a career change to get employed. Charlotte economic downturn was in late October 2008 and still continues, but most economist expect that Charlotte will be one of the first that rebounds once the recession lightens and the financial markets stabilize.

The expectation is that the economic recession will start to turn late this year with some positive signs of growth. The mortgage industry was the one of the first business segments that was hit and helped start the national recession. Property values have declined around the United States and foreclosures have risen to unprecendant levels.

Most of the job titles that the company has in Charlotte, NC are Home Save Counselors, Home Save Supervisors and Managers, Home Save Negotiators, Member and Customer Services and Purchase Underwriters. The creation of the 1,014 should fall within these job categories and will help people nationwide on mortgage issues.
