Award-winning author Neil Gaiman may finally get his day, or his year at the movies. The long-time author has been involved with adaptations and book-to-tv screen and big screen of his works before, but 2007 and 2008 will are the biggest years for Neil Gaiman at the movies so far. With his hand in so many movie version of his own works, will Neil Gaiman, author The Sandman finally see his day as an Oscar nominee?

Even if Neil Gaiman doesn't receive any 2008 Oscar nominations, movie goers are still the winners, as the talent of Neil Gaiman hits the big screen.

Academy Awards Nominations for Neil Gaiman's Stardust

Neil Gaiman's Stardust, released on August 10, 2007 (www.imdb.com) by Paramount Pictures has earned more than 45 million dollars worldwide. (Numbers from September 19, 2007, www.boxofficemojo.com).

Stardust the movie was adapted from the Neil Gaiman book of the same name. He did not, however have a hand in adapting the screenplay.

2008 Oscar Predictions for Stardust: The visually lush movie Stardust could likely receive Oscar nominations at the 2008 Academy Awards in the following categories:

Claire Danes, one of the most talented actresses of her generation may also receive an Oscar nod. She has a history of consistently creating compelling characters on screen.

While the music in Stardust was sweeping and deep, there is no real sappy ballad, of which Oscar is so fond.

Academy Awards Nominations for Neil Gaiman's Beowulf

One of the anticipated movie releases for the literary is the animated feature, Beowulf. Long have English literature students been forced to wrestle with both Beowulf, and with Grendel and his mother.

According to IMDB.com, Roger Avary teamed up with Neil Gaiman to write the Beowulf screenplay. This film will be a box office hit, due to the anticipation that has been building around it, coupled with a cast of superstars.

Superstar Angelina Jolie is Grendel's mother and Anthony Hopkins plays King Hrothgar in Beowulf, according to IMDB.com. Also providing voices: Jon Malkovich, Crispin Glover, Robin Wright Penn, and Ray Winstone.

Although the inspiration for the Beowulf is from the epic poem of the same name Neil Gaiamn. Beowulf should and will earn Neil Gaiman an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay at the 80th Academy Awards in 2008.

Academy Awards Nominations for Neil Gaiman's Coraline

Neil Gaiman's first book for young readers, Coraline is coming to the big screen in 2008. Gaiman's Coraline should garner him an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 2009 Academy Awards celebrating movies released in 2008, since it is adapted from his book by the same name.

Coraline the movie should also receive an Oscar nomination at the 2009 Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature Film of the Year. Unless, of course, some other animated sweeps the hearts of the Academy.
