Neil Patrick Harris on Saturday Night Live

Neil Patrick Harris, star of 'How I Met Your Mother', hosted SNL last night, January 10th. Likely a great ratings boost for Saturday Night Live, Neil Patrick did an excellent job bringing yet another 'new' face to the SNL skits.

How I Met Your Mother is a CBS show about a group of friends in NYC, thier ups and downs, romances and let downs. Sounds familiar? In fact while intentionaly offereing a different set up and premise than the long gone show 'Friends', it is difficult to watch How I met Your Mother with Neil Patrick Harris, Josh Radnor and more without mentally comparing it with 'Friends', but I suppose it has more of an appeal for the newer generation.

Back on SNL, Neil Patrick Harris reminisced about starring on the show Doogie Howser MD, in which he portrayed a teenaged physician going trying to get through life. In one skit Neil Patrick played the them song of the show with the Saturday Night Live cast dressed as his former co-actors.

According to IMDB.com, Neil Patrick Harris was born in Alberquque New Mexico in 1973. The actor, who looks younger than his 35 years, starred in various made for Television movies and took up stage acting after Doogie Howser MD, most memorably in a 'Rent' production in Los Angeles.

Neil Patrick had a role in the 1997 film Starship Troopers and in 1998 in The Proposition.

Saturday Night Live was pretty much watchable last night, thanks in part to Neil Patrick Harris and the musical guest Taylor Swift.

NPH is the man, especially when he had roles in both the Harold and Kumar movies. Classic!
