Neopets 2010 Advent Calendar Day Twelve: A Holiday Potato? Well, at Least it Wasn't Dung

Miss Fortune
When I saw the animation for Day Twelve of the Advent Calendar I rolled my eyes thinking that it was going to be a dung-related day. I guess a potato or two is better than dung but not by much. Today I received 576 Neopoints, "Holiday Potato" and "Extreme Holiday Potato". Both versions of the potato are classified as Food so they are going to be strong sellers in the next couple of years. Yes, I said years. Sometimes it takes that long to made a solid profit from something like this but both potatoes have something going for them - the word "holiday". That might sound odd but anything that has the words "Christmas", "seasonal", "holiday" or related words means it has a stronger appeal to the season.

So far there have been some great gifts given away at the Advent Calendar and the event continues through the rest of the month. Outside of that and the new game board at Key Quest there really isn't a lot to the Winter Starlight Celebration. The Faeries' Ruin plot is still going on and I am sure I am not the only one that is hoping it will end soon. It has dragged on for far too long and the epic battles really throw the site into a lag state. TNT could throw us a curve ball and add something at the last minute - there has already been on goodie bag given away at the NC Mall so when you have a couple extra seconds it does pay to stop there and see if there are any freebies. Remember to click the "Claim" link in order to get it.

Even though Christmas isn't even here yet, it's time to start planning for Valentine's Day. There are a lot of great things that are selling cheap but that won't be the case once the Christmas rush is over. Planning ahead for seasonal events can mean more of a profit later. Likewise, the items from Key Quest and the Advent Calendar that are selling cheap are prime items to hoard. As I have said 83 times so far, eventually prices rebound and you can make a killing using the tried and true motto of "buy low, sell high". What exactly am I hoarding? I am sticking with the Icy foods, cheap Collectable Cards (The Space Faerie and Sophie the Swamp Witch) and the usual 1 - 5 NP items that I use to search the Shop Wizard.

They wouldn't have dung on an Advent calendar, would they? For some reason, this reminds me of the old Monty Python line: What's round, and brown, and sounds like a bell? DUNG!
