Neopets Key Quest Spoo-Key Promotion! Double Keys! Spooky Prizes!

Miss Fortune
Friday October 9th was a strange day at Neopets; the Key Quest game started giving out double keys for 'testing' the new Halloween themed board. I don't think anyone expected it to roll over to the weekend and explode into the "Key Quest Spoo-Key Promotion"! You can play any of the boards on Key Quest and if you complete the game and earn keys, you will get two of them instead of one.

The downside to this is that there have been more than a few glitches. I have had games freeze up or get the dreaded "The game has ended abnormally" message. While this can be frustrating it is one of the many reasons that I play two players / three keys. The games are shorter but you can still rack up some keys to redeem for prizes. You can redeem up to ten keys per day but you can play as many rounds of Key Quest as you like. There are limits to 5,000 NP per round and a total of 30,000 NP per day from the Key Quest game but other than those restrictions, it's an extremely fun way to stock up on keys to redeem when the prizes go back to their normal pay out. There seems to be a mix of prizes given out now, rumor has it that The Neopets Team cut back a little on the Spooky items that were given out with key redemptions.

And speaking of prizes, the first day of the promotion saw a lot of complaints. Players wanted their Neggs and Codestones, not Spooky items. Restockers and resellers of Halloween items saw some of their favorite items plummet in price. The good news here is that 99% of the time these items rebound and go back to their original selling prices. A prime example of that - the Ghost Toast series. Several of these were selling for an extremely low price after Halloween a few years back but the prices eventually climbed. The same thing will happen with "Cheese Ghostkersandwich" so if you see them selling for a few hundred NP, stock up on them as the price will go back up.

Some of the prizes that I have received from the Key Quest Spoo-Key Promotion include: "Halloween Blumaroo Gnome", "Count Von Roo Halloween Costume", "Ghost Pancakes", "Baked Intesteen", "Spooky Toilet", "Spooky Sink", "Spooky Patio Table", "Spooky Tree Table", "Spooky Speaker", "Spooky Skull Candle", "Eyeball Cauldron", "Cauldron Table", "The Legend of Count Von Roo", "Halloween Cybunny Gnome", "Halloween Bruce Gnome", "Skull Deckball", "Skullberry Brucicle", "Mutant Ona Mask", "Halloween Kau Plushie", "Mutant Usul Stamp", "Icy Negg", "Carnival of Terror Stamp", "Spooky Bone Candle", "Deserted Carnival Bed", 'Deserted Carnival Chair", "Cheese Ghostkersandwich", "Lizark", "Ghost Techo Tales" and "Halloween Ruki Tales".

I have been spending my spare time stocking up on the books and cool collectibles that will eventually go back up in price. "Slime Cream" and "Skullberry Brucicle" are pretty cheap if you scour the Shop Wizard so grabbing some extra ones will pay off next season or if you are trying to get the Packrat Avatar. I have not seen the "Haunted Brucicle" show up as a "Key Quest Spoo-Key" prize yet but who knows what TNT has up their sleeve. I am hoping that they will add some rarer items to the prizes as the month progresses. I received the "Halloween Voodoo Puppet" from a friend but haven't has the chance to ask him if it was a Key Quest prize or not, in any event, it looks great in my Spooky Gallery!
