Nepenthe (A Poem)

The search is on for the world

to blot its huge, red, salty eyes

to stir relief the peaceless whirls

with a paper- mache mask disguise.

The search is not to find solutions

for an epoch of mass disputes

but to create comforting delusions

happy smiles dare not refute.

The search grows wilder, far more faster

than any search for fountains of youth

herding humans out to pasture because they cannot face the truth.
