Netflix 2010 May Finanlly Have Created Movie Lovers Heaven

New Ways to Get the Most Out of Your Netflix Membership

Sharon Early
I am certain that unless you have been living in a cave, under a rock, or in a third world country without electricity, that by now you have at least heard of Netflix. Netflix is the DVD rental company who pioneered the concept of DVD rentals by mail for a flat rate. Everyone watches videos, movies, documentaries, or some type of film or video entertainment at one time or another, and most American households have at least one DVD player in their home. Anyway, I will dispense with the history lesson on in home movie rentals, or the way that Netflix has, in the past, distributed their movies to members, I have read articles about Netflix, so I know they're out there, if you want to know what was up with Netflix before you are welcome to search one of those articles up and read it. The purpose of this article is to tell you what Netflix is doing now.

They have always offered movies for an unlimited duration, for one flat rate. Now they offer full length feature movies, documentaries, independent films, foreign films, and even DVD sets of entire seasons of popular television shows. You can catch up on anything that you missed last season on many of your favorite popular television shows, both network television and many premium cable channel series. Now you no longer have to wait for the mail to watch your favorite flicks. Netflix now allows members, for the same flat monthly rates, to watch movies, videos, concerts, stand up comedy showcases, television shows (both American and BBC series), to watch with the same flexibility that their lives have. You can watch Netflix on your computer or television any time that you want, as often as you like. You can send videos to your television via digital Blue Ray Disc players (only certain brands of Blue Ray HiDef players are compatible with Netflix), on RoKu streaming digital player with built in Wi-Fi, gaming consoles (PS3, Xbox, and soon using the Wii gaming system), HD televisions (again only certain brands are compatible), DVR/Digital Video recorder box such as TiVo, and some Home Theater Systems which are compatible with the Netflix signal.

Instantly watch Netflix videos on your TV via:

• Hi Def Television (only certain brands of HDTV are compatible)

• Blue Ray HD Disc players

• RoKu streaming digital video player

• Gaming consoles (Xbox, PS3, and coming soon on Wii video gaming systems)

• Digital Video Recorder/DVR

• Home Theater surround sound home entertainment Systems

Netflix has always tried to help members to make the most of their membership packages by shipping out videos from you Queue the same day that they receive your last movie(s) in the mail. As a customer I have always been pleasantly surprised by how efficient their service is. I mail back my movie and usually in the morning mail 2 days later there is the next movie in my queue. I have a membership level that allows me to have more than one movie out at a time, however we like to return them separately so that we don't get the new movies in the mail on the same day. Sometimes when life gets hectic it will take me a while to get around to watching the next movie that we have received for a few days, once it even took me two weeks to watch one of the two movies that they had sent out. The wonderful flexibility of Netflix insures that I didn't get any calls or letters requesting the return of their movie, and when I do return it there were no late fees. The only consequence of keeping a movie out for a while is that as long as you still have it, it doesn't get replaced.

Now with the Watch Now features and all of the available ways to enjoy your movie on your television, or on your computer I am really getting the most out of my membership. I still receive my movies two at a time, but I can also watch television series, documentaries, and such on my computer when I just want to take a break from the workaday world. Part of the beauty of the new system is that it also tracks what you watch so that you can quickly and easily find the show or movie again, if you wanted to watch it again or share a film that you really liked with someone else in your household. You can also log in from a friends house and access your account or watch movies. Just as you do with a DVD you can pause the playback, go forward or back, you can log out of the account entirely and whenever you come back to watch that film it will pick it up exactly where you were.

This makes Netflix Video On Demand convenient and ideal for people who work in jobs like childcare, elder care, for people who travel a lot, entertaining children while on long trips, for teachers who want to share award winning historical documentaries or classic novels which were made into movies a long time ago and that you won't find at your local DVD rental, movies because they are just so old and so rarely watched, and anyone else who has a laptop or a home computer and internet access. When traveling for business or pleasure there is always some downtime where you would love to just relax and watch a movie. That can be especially helpful if you are visiting a foreign country and most of the television programming that you receive is in a foreign language that you don't speak. Just pop open your laptop, pick a movie, show, or series and escape into a movie.

Accounts start at $8.99 per month for renting one movie at a time, I didn't think that this account level offered unlimited Watch Instantly-view on demand, but I went back and looked at the various membership levels and it does. They even offer a limited account for $4.99 a month for 1 DVD at a time and that is the account which does not include unlimited Watch Instantly. All of the account levels from $8.99 to their highest package which is the 4 DVD plan for $23.99, offer unlimited Watch Instantly features. The account that I have is $14.99 a month and includes two movies checked out at a time and unlimited Watch Instantly view on demand. Most people would assume that there is some kind of catch or a hidden limit on some type of asterisk marked restriction on unlimited because that is the experience that many people have had with other recurrent billed accounts, but I have not found a ceiling on it yet.

For my fifteen dollars last month I got 2 movies at a time to play on my DVD player and watch on my TV and I watched 4 television series with multiple seasons to watch, Farscape (2), Jeremiah(2), Sanctuary(2), Primeval(3), watched parts of other shows that I decided not to continue watching, 3 independent Sundance Festival films, two feature films, and 3 documentaries, and for all of that programming I was not charged a single additional fee of any kind. Netflix, with their extensive digital library of films and DVD's has finally created movie lovers heaven at a price that everyone can afford. You can also buy gift memberships for friends or family or create gift certificates for raffles, or as part of a prize package for a contest or as a giveaway gift package.

Not only is Netflix easy to access and use, convenient for DVD entertainment anywhere anytime that you are ready to watch a film, it's easy to introduce others to this great and affordable way to entertain your entire family. The best part of all, you will never have to rush to get to a DVD rental shop before it closes only to find that the movie you wanted to rent is not available ever again! and with Instant Viewing to your television you don't even have to make the extra trip to the post office to return your movies, and with digital viewing the turn around time for watching new movies in the comfort of your own home has been reduced from 2 days to 0.
