The White Ribbon (2009): This Golden Globe winner tells a disturbing story of sexual repression and violent crimes in a German village where even the kids become suspects. You'll argue over the ending of this 3.4 star new Netflix streaming movie.
The Sting (1973): Paul Newman and Robert Redford display their usual charms but this witty comedy also teaches that there's nothing glamorous about being a grifter. It gets 4.2 stars to go with its 7 Academy Awards.
Casino (1995): Another bloody engrossing Martin Scorcese gangster film with Robert De Niro, Sharon Stone and Joe Pesci winning 4.1 stars at Netflix but losing everything in Vegas.
Billy Elliot (2000): Cheer for an 11-year old boy who escapes a Northern England mining town to become a ballet dancer. It's dancing with 3.9 stars at Netflix.
Salvador (1986): Oliver Stone's interesting take on the civil war with James Woods and James Belushi as journalists who are in over their heads gets 3.5 stars
Rain (1932): Joan Crawford battles a fanatical missionary and steals the show as a gutsy prostitute earning 3.3 stars.
Cyrano de Bergerac (1950): Jose Ferrer wins an Oscar and Roxanne's heart. The DVD print stinks but the story shines through in this new Netflix streaming movie that gets 3.8 stars.
