I was skeptical. Why would I want to get movie rentals in the mail when I could take a short drive to the video store?
Since Netflix had a free trial promotion running, I decided to take the plunge. I must admit, my skepticism was wrong. Netflix is a great product. I highly recommend!
How does Netflix work?
It's simple really. You pay $9.99 a month and get unlimited movie rentals (they have other options for different prices). You can only have one Netflix movie at a time though. So you create a list of all the movies you want to see. Netflix sends you the first on your list. When you're done with the movie, you mail it back to them. (Note: Netflix pays for the shipping costs both ways. If you had to pay to mail the movie, I think it would kill the deal.). Once they get your returned movie, they send you the next movie on your list. That's it!
Why is Netflix better than the video store?
As I said before, I was skeptical. Why wouldn't I just go to the video store? In the end, I decided Netflix is better than the video store. Here's why:
Movie Selections
When I go to the video store, I never know what movie to get. I look through the entire store and am usually left undecided. It's usually not fun and takes awhile. And I usually don't end up with great movies. Video stores tend to be overly populated with new released.
With Netflix, I can leisurely go through all the movies I want to watch. I can surf the internet for Best Movies of All-Time lists. Netflix even has a movie rating system where you can rate every movie you've seen. Based on your ratings, Netflix then recommends movies that you should like. With Netflix, the movies I've been watching have been better suited for me.
Late Fees
After watching a movie, it takes such an effort to bother going back to return the movie. It hasn't been a problem, but I've racked up more late fees than I'd like. With Netflix, the late fee is a thing of the past.
Rental Frequency
Before Netflix, I didn't rent movies very often. It's not that I had better stuff to do; I just didn't bother renting very often.
But with Netflix, I have my movie rental come right to my door through the mail. Then when I have some free time, I pop the movie into the DVD player and enjoy. I'm generally very pleased. I didn't watch enough movies before Netflix. I think Netflix has increased my movie watching to the optimum amount.

Post a CommentYes, Netflix is great. They also have a Great Selection Of Independent Christian Films!
I tried Blockbuster online for a bit, Netflix sounds better
Great article! I love Netflix. We have the 3 movies at a time plan and it only costs around $20, so at 12 movies a week that's only $1.66 each. I've yet to find a rental place with prices that good for new releases. Also they are wonderful about getting new releases to you. I LOVE Netflix...wait I already said that LOL See how much I like this service?
movie ideas sound great!!! do you have to sign up for a year or so!!?? it also seems it may be just as hard to go to the post office???
Thank you Jaleh; I will! I agree with Murielle. I had lost interest in movies, but Netflix is great!
Netflix is the very best idea out there as far as movie rental is concerned. I love it!!
