As of recent Netflix and XBox (as well as other platforms) have combined the awesome service of Netflix to streaming with the XBox Live service. I just wanted to say that this service is well worth it considering it is free if you have both the XBox Live service and a Netflix account. This review goes over the features and my opinion of the service. Setup is quick and painless, so get it today.
The Menu
To access Netlix on your XBox 360, you must first download the plugin for the Netflix through the Live service on XBox. After you have installed the Netflix service, you must go to the Netflix website to get an activation code from your account. Upon retrieving the activation code, enter it into the XBox Netflix service and you are ready to get started. You can access Netflix through the Video Marketplace menu on XBox Live.
Features
Now that the service is installed, you can add new movies and tv episodes to your instant queue on the Netflix website. After adding to your list, the list will become available from the Netflix menu on your XBox. From the Netflix service on XBox you can also remove from your queue, rate the video, and start/restart the video. While watching the video you have option to jump around through the video which will rebuffer the video for the section you want to jump to.
The Bottom Line
The best part about it is that all the movies you could watch on your computer through streaming can be viewed and maintained from the XBox Live menu. Another great thing about it is that if your connection slows it will automatically re-buffer to give you a better streaming rate to support your internet connection. My wife and I watched all the seasons of Heroes from the Netflix + XBox combo on our 42" television and it was awesome. This service also does not interrupt your regular movie queue (the mailed service). For the most part, I have no complaints and the service is impeccable. For the future, I think Netflix should add movie searching on the XBox so you can manage the instant queue from there. Another additional would be better in-movie navigation. I think in the long run the service will expand and get even better as Netflix adds more movies and tv episodes. I look forward to seeing what they come up with so keep up the good work Netflix!
