Nets Finally Land Carmelo Anthony in Mega Trade

Jimmy Smith
The New Jersey Nets have finally landed Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets, after trying to acquire him for the last several months, several news agencies reported. The 3 team trade is Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups from Denver, plus Richard Hamilton from Detroit. Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, Anthony Morrow and at two first-round picks going to Denver, with Johan Petro and Troy Murphy going to Detroit.

Favors was the Nets 3rd overall pick and Morrow is currently the NBA's leading sharp shooter from deep. Devin Harris is averaging 16 points a game, it is unclear which two draft picks the Nuggets received.

This move makes the Nets significantly better and will probably put them in contention for the 8th seed in the East. The Nets are 10-27, and currently 5 games out 8th place in the Eastern Conference. Billups and Richard Hamilton will probably be the Nets starting back court.

Carmelo Anthony and his representatives have yet to issue a statement on the trade. It is unknown whether Carmelo Anthony has signed the 3 year 65 million dollar contract the Nets have offered him.

The Nets have been trying to land Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets for a while now, and have gotten close on several times. There have been back and forth discussions all summer, but now the deal finally seems to be done and the "Melodrama." is over.

Mikhail Prokhorov, the Nets owner, promised Nets fans that the team would make the playoffs this year, and win a championship within five. With this Carmelo Anthony trade, the Nets will make the playoffs this year and even have a shot at the championship.

What do you think of this Carmelo Anthony trade, and how does it affect the NBA, and the Nets and Nuggets? Who got the better end of the trade?

This is not official yet. Might happen tommorow (Monday), might not. I just dont understand how a story like this gets out...and even if it does happen, do you really think the Nets have a "shot" at the championship? this is lame
