Netsleuth.com: Not Worth the Fee's

Niki
I have heard many people say how they have looked someone up online before they dated them or for some other reason, my sister likes to see which of her friends from our hometown are in jail. I decided to see how easy it would be to find myself or someone else I knew online. On most of the websites for people search, you have to pay to see the full results, and there is no guarantee that the person you are looking for is in those results. I ended up at Netsleuth.com, they require you to pay a subscription fee, but there is not a limit on searches. You must be 18 and older to use this website. It sounded good, but I did not want to pay any money. When I was checking out the register page a there was not mention of any fees, which is why I was registering. I thought I had finally found a free people search website. I did not find out there was a fee until I was half way registered. You get a chance to get a one-year subscription free, but you have to complete one of 'their sponsors' offers. Some of the 'offers' have small shipping and handling fees, however netsleuth rebates anything you pay associated with the offers. The offers are stuff like free trails at eFax, Stamps.com, etc... nothing that I really wanted but I wanted the free subscription. Therefore, I did the two-week trail at Stamps.com, and got my free one-year subscription. I did not stay with stamp.com longer than a day, just long enough to get the netsleuth account activated. Stamps.com did not charge me since I canceled before the two-trail was up, so I was happy. It was truly free.

Of course, after I logged in and 'used' netsleuth, I knew why they were giving subscriptions away. This website was useless. If I had paid $39.95, I would be very mad. The website claims that you will not find the type of information that netsleuth offers anywhere else. That is a bunch of bull; all they have is links to other websites. The websites they have links to, you could find by doing a search on Google or Yahoo. In addition, they link to other people and information searching websites that charge a fee. If you read their Terms and Conditions it says they are a resource database, and relieve themselves of any problems resulting from misinformation, basically, you use Netsleuth at your own risk. Bottom line, Netsleuth is a waste of time, I am glad in my case it is just time and not wasted money. If you want to look for someone or information, go directly to the last known county court, city, etc... website and look through public records. You do not need to pay for access to this information.

Yes I fully agree. I paid $39.95 to access DMV records and when I got to the sight there was nothing for DMV records. A total waist of money. Thank god clik Bank said they would refund the debit to me. We'll see if they do.

I was almost ready to click on the payment button...thanks for the review. I will save my money and my temper for something else.

I can confirm what's stated in Tiffany's review. The site is a total scam -- misrepresented and a worthless waste of time.

Thanks. Good review of a useless site. I thought I might compliment my free NetDetective Standard and my low cost annual fee WebInvestigator (CIS) & SearchSystems (Direct Pass) subscriptions but your advice on a better understanding of their cryptic "Terms of Use" policy helped me decide to not waste my time with them. Thanks again for the insight!

Thanks for the heads up. I too was excited to find a free internet info souce today. I did not proceed due to the links they provided, which all cost money. You know what is said.."if it is too good to be true, it probably isn't" Thanks for confirming my hunch.
