Both Olay Complete and Neutrogena Healthy Skin facial lotion have a spf of 15. Therefore, while providing a good amount of moisture, the two lotions also combat hamful rays from the sun. Olay Complete claims to provide all day moisture in a light and non greasy formula. Its bottle reads that the lotion has antioxidant Vitamin E plus C. It's 100% PABA and oil free. The brand also claims that it is non-comedogenic, meaning that it won't clog pores and that it is dermatologist tested and recommended.
Neutrogena Healthy skin lotion claims to contain alpha hydroxy acid which is supposed to gently get rid of dull or damaged skin. The product is supposed to painlessly smooth away fine lines and even out skin tones. The Vitamin A and Provitamin B5 are supposed build up levels of moisture in the skin and create an increase in firmnesss. Like Olay Complete, Neutrogena Healthy skin also contains the vitamins C and E and claims that these vitamins protect new skin and war against damage from the sun. Neutrogena Healthy Skin is also PABA free. Neutrogena even goes as far as to claim that after as little as eight weeks, one should experience a significant improvement in their skin's appearance.
I've used both of these products and I did find that they each ring true to some of the claims their labels make. After using Neutrogena Healthy Skin for approximately eight weeks, I noticed that my skin was clear and that it had a kind of glow to it. I do believe that my skin had never looked better.
However, after applying this moisturizer for the first time, my skin felt a bit tight. There are a few warnings on the bottle that relate to this feeling, but since my experiences were not as severe as those mentioned on the bottle, I continued to use the product and experienced only a short-lived tighness. I think that the tighness was due to the working of the hydroxy acids which are supposed to gently rid the face of rough skin.
After continuing to use the moisturizer, I never experienced dryness and my skin just looked so bright. However, I discontinued the use of this product for two reasons after the bottle ran out. The first reason was its high price. A bottle of Neutrogena Healthy Skin runs about $12.00. I also stopped using this product because it bothered me that I was "exfoliating" my face every single morning. I was not sure if that was really healthy to do. Even the directions on exfoliating facial masks read that you should use them only once a week.
After feeling a bit uncomfortable about these two factors, I tried a less expensive brand of face lotion with an SPF of 15, Olay Complete. The lotion in this product goes on smooth and smells good. It also makes my face look shiny and healthy after applying it. However, the shine goes away after a few hours.
The only concern I had with this product was that after using it for a while, I began to notice that my facial skin was a little dry. I had some dark spots that appeared here and there. From my experience with my own face, I am aware that these spots come from dryness because they immediately begin to diminish, after I start using a more oily product on my skin. Therefore, during the winter time, I stopped using Olay Complete and began using a product that was not oil free. When the summer rolled around again, I applied the non oil free moisturizer underneath of the Olay Complete so that I can take advantage of Olay's protection from the sun.
When the Olay Complete runs out, I will probably stop using it and pair Neutrogena Healthy Skin with a moisturizer I feel comfortable using everyday. I will perhaps use Neuttogena once a week because it gives me a glow like no other product I have ever used that even shows underneath of my makeup, and I did notice my smile lines a little less.

Post a CommentIn my late twenties, I tried just about every moisturizer I could find including rarified ingredient boutique lotions but my skin remained dry, hot, itchy, flaky, and I was seeing laugh lines around my eyes.
I was about to give up hope until my mothercame to visit and bought me the made from earth Vitamin Enhanced FACE FIRMING serum. This at the full $50price. I have been using it ever since. On the occasions I do try other lotions, they never measure up.
My skin thanked me after the first application. After a few days, it looked better, was less red, less chapped - I love that all MADE FROM EARTH products are chemical free. Within a month or two (or less, I don't remember after 7 years) I had no lines near my eyes, my skin feels soft and comfortable unless I abuse it. When I abuse it, this lotion makes it feel better.
People consistently guess my age to be 5-8 years younger than I am even though I have grey hair. While they swear it's not because of the immaturity..

My wife is a big fan of Olay products, most of which are cost-prohibitive.
