Coverage
At first I thought the make up from the new Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation compact was a little heavy a bit too powdery-looking. I did have to make sure to put extra moisturizer on any normally areas of my skin, which helped ease the powdery look.
The Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation make up behaves like mineral sheers, and it feels very light. It also reflects light, just as you would expect from a mineral make up.
With some practice, I noticed that I could apply a very light layer of these mineral sheers and still benefit from the mineral coverage.
Make Up Without Mess
With the new Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation Compact there is no loose powder on your fingers, your clothes, your sink or in your car. You also will not have make up residue on your hands. This mineral make up easily moves from its home in the compact to the sponge to your face, without escaping.
Make Up Not Perfume
One pet peeve I have with some make up products is the scent. As someone who has a strong sense of smell and is prone to headaches, I do not need add extra scents to my life. Fortunately, the new Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation Compact contains make up that is free of fragrance.
Skin Benefits
The reason I continue to purchase Neutrogena make up and skin care products is because not only do they not damage or harm my skin, they also benefit my skin.
The main skin benefit feature I appreciate in this new mineral make up is that it contains SPF 20. Personally, I wouldn't mind an even higher SPF for summertime, but SPF 20 built-in to this mineral make up product works for me.
What I also like about this mineral make up is that it does not clog pores. I have tried many different make ups that do clog pores.
This product is also oil-free, which means you won't have an oil slick running down your face by your first coffee break.
Available Shades
One of the drawbacks to the Neutrogena line of cosmetics is they do not have as many shades as other cosmetic companies. It takes a keen eye to find the right shade. Luckily, I went with nude. The color I really wanted was out of stock, and it would have turned out to be too dark for my skin tone.
You can find the right shade in the line of eight colors, if you take your time and try to match your skin tone.
Ease of Use
When you open the Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation Compact, you will notice two compartments and three main pieces. Under the clear top you can see the color of the mineral make up. The clear circle makes it easy to pick the right shade at the store.
Open the make up portion of the compact and you will find a man-made cosmetic sponge. On the opposite side of the make up, directly underneath is the mirror. The mirror is housed inside the compact, which makes it less likely to break or crack when you carry it around in your favorite designer handbag.
The mirror is also a very decently sized mirror to have on a make up compact.
You can use the sponge to press into the make up and then flip the lid to use the mirror.
Drawbacks
It may appear too powdery for some. Also, it does look like you have make up on your face, which some women don't like when they use mineral make up.
Price
The price of the Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation Compact is pretty reasonably priced at around $12.

Post a CommentThis is a really good product. I am asian, and the compact in Nude is really good for yellow complexions. It's easy to apply, not messy. I don't have an issue with the oils in the compact - I have oily skin and this stays on my face much better than the mineral sheers with that horrible brush ever did - I was always a greasy mess with that product. One thing- if you want it really sheer, it is better to use a foundation brush rather than the sponge applicator, because you have better control over it. The sponge is good if you are trying to work your entire face. Work the product into your face too - if you brush it on lightly (like a finishing powder), it doesn't stay very well. I also was able to mix it with water and apply it for an even sheerer finish, no problem. Good product.
I have used several mineral makeups. This one just didn't cut it for me....in EITHER format. The compact seemed super convenient at first. I t was much less messy than Bare Escentuals and easy to take on the go. However, within a week or two of use my face was flaking and red. There are certain oils used to keep pressed powder in compact forms that are NOT in loose minerals foundations. The sponge in this compact is no good, nor was the rough brush on the older version. It's really only about 7 dollars less than the real deal. Why try impersonators just to save a few bucks every couple of months? My face is worth it and needs to be pampered.
Excellent article! I've never tried it before.
Excellent review. I really like mineral make up.
I wondered about this one.
Thanks for the review.. :-)
great job and love this product!!!!!!!!!!!
Good review Pam.
Thanks for all the info. Great coverage - literally.
This sounds like a winner. I have always hated make-up that clogs pores, too, and too many do.
