Never Far Away

Jack Eastham
Fragrant flowers remind us of life

As they surround us in the room

Words of loved ones comfort us

Spoken directly from the heart

Cards of concern arrive in the mail

As difficult days begin to follow

Your world will now be quieter

By a voice you will miss so much

Memories will flood the mind

Causing laughter and some tears

Always keeping you so close

To one who now seems so far

Just remember the joy that was

As the same joy that still is

Though the words now fall silent

The spirit speaks warmly within

I really like that last line "the spirit speaks warmly within" ; in our hearts they remain forever as in time capsule. Nice poem; again Hallmark style.
