Never Happen Again
Domestic Violence
Regardless of that being true or not, today....this hour.....this minute a woman is getting her first taste of domestic or mental abuse from her mate. What will she do, will she listen to his cries "I promise it will never happen again," or will she walk away?
As you read this poem, please in your mind picture this happening to you or your best friend or your daughter and make the right decision if abuse is every introducted to you by a man.
Whack!
went the sound
of her
face
she stands there
in a daze
bewildered
astounded
she reaches up
strokes her cheek
tears beginning to
flow
she turns away
infuriated
humiliated
yet perplexed
at whatever
did she do to
warrant this
reception
from this human being
she loves
in a trance
she
about face
seizing her purse
she saunters toward
the door
he's already there
water in his eyes
beseeching
imploring
do not leave
he repents
assuring her
convincing her
it will not
occur again
grief in his eyes
tears falling from them both
slowly
she turns around
forgiving
still loving
reassured
it will never
happen
again.
