Never Before Seen Photos of Marilyn Monroe Released

Eleanthe Anderson
Marilyn Monroe is a movie star icon. While there were many celebrities in her time, few of her fellow stars are recognizable to today's youth. Marilyn, though, is still recognized by everyone, and she may be recognized everywhere as well. This week, never before seen photos of Marilyn Monroe were released by Life Magazine.

The never published photos were taken in 1950, before Marilyn Monroe rose to the full height of her fame. The photos were taken in Griffith Park, Los Angeles. They are beautiful images of her as a young woman, and she does not adopt the bombshell poses that she later became famous for. Instead, she shows her youth and natural beauty. Well, almost natural. She does have her famous blond hair already.

Life Magazine has been in the process of digitizing their photo collection, and stumbled across the negatives to the never before seen photos. They had been in storage all these year. It is surprising, considering that the photo shoot was done when Marilyn Monroe was still a small-time actress, and she had only been given a few movie roles at the time. When she later rose to stardom, no one thought to dig up the old photos and release them.

If you don't know much about Marilyn Monroe, she was born in 1926 in Los Angeles as Norma Jean Baker. She had a troubled childhood and spent much of it in orphanages and foster homes after her mother was committed to a mental hospital. She worked odd jobs until a photographer discovered her and gave her modeling assignments. Those led to bit parts in movies, and the rest is history. Marilyn Monroe died a controversial death in 1962.
