New Accessory for Playstation 3

Playstation Eye Camera

I do not own a Playstation 3 console, yet. My husband and I have a Playstation 2 console that works just fine. Our kids have a Nintendo Gamecube. We plan to buy a PS3 when it's a good time. A good time being when I have the money to spend and when I won't feel guilty for spending it on ourselves. The price tag of $600 on a game console right now is expensive. We plan to also buy the children the Nintendo Wii, but their Gamecube works fine. So, I'll wait until it tears up.

We love gaming. I don't care anything about the blu-ray or online gaming. I've watched maybe two dvd's in our PS2. I want to have the whole enhanced gaming experience with improved graphics and so on. The price is steep though. I was a bit upset that Devil May Cry won't be exclusive to the Playstation anymore, but everyone should get to play it. I love Dante. We love RPG games. I would like to play Untold Legends Dark Kingdom and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I'm glad I haven't ever gotten around to buying the EyeToy camera for our PS2 console. I just discovered there has been a new camera designed specifically for the Playstation 3.

April 26, 2007 brought the announcement by Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) of a new accessory for the Playstation 3 console. This summer will bring the release of the Playstation Eye camera. Its advanced microphone and USB camera technology will enhance voice, video chat, and online gaming. It will have features that I probably won't need.

The microphone is said to be able to reduce background noise without using a headset or having to hold it and have more accurate speech recognition. The Playstation Eye camera sounds promising with features such as two position zoom lens (close-up or full body), low-light condition performance, faster frame rate (up to 120 frames per second), and free editing software.

Sony said the free Eyecreate editing software will allow photos, video and audio clips to be saved to the Playstation 3 hard disk drive. This could be very cool. In addition, a user can turn their media into movies with a professional look with visual effects and different capture modules.

Now, I've used editing software before and found myself more irritated than impressed. I've wanted my own Playstation camera. So, I am curious to see how well Eyecreate will work and how user friendly it will be. Maybe I will find myself trying out all the features the PS3 has to offer at least once. First, of course, I have to buy a Playstation 3.
