Plenty of technology capable of merging different systems into one system already exists. One example of this is smart technology, which has to do with the lights in your home, being connected to a computer. This would allow the user to control the lights from the computer. They could do the same with appliances such as microwaves and televisions. The user could even get their television to record their favorite program in this scenario.
