New Authors Seek New Ideas to Get Their Book to the Masses

New authors are hitting the literary market and trying to seek new ideas to get their book to the masses. New books are flooding the bookstores and local or online book retailers. However, new authors have problems getting their books with some distributors and in bookstores. They also are seeking advice from other authors to discover the secrets to getting their books nationally and internationally. Besides book sales and setting up book signings, authors desire to learn the market and the business to gain exposure.

There are many authors offering free books, catering services, and other free promotional items at the book signings. There is also book swamping, where authors are trading their books to get a book from another author they would like to read. There are other authors who only want to sell their books and do not want to give a book away for free. Yet, some free books can be used for word-of-mouth exposure, reading other literary works with a fellow author, or for reviews for potential sales. Review why you are giving away free books and will it affect your budget or profit of the book sales. As authors, we have to purchase our books at these book signings at a discounted rate. Can we afford our losses by giving away free books to build a following audience or future sales?

New authors should join writing groups, social media networks, writing conferences and seminars; ask advice from other authors, publicists, literary consultants, and/or literary agents. We need to read Writer's Digest, books on how to write query letters, sample letters, cover letters, proposals and synopsis and magazines on the literary market or entrepreneurship. As writers and authors, we are entrepreneurs. We can also read books on marketing and promotion. Otherwise, we can hire a publicist, agent, or internet marketer. We have to discover what works best for us. We can also join like-minded authors and create our own groups or author's tours to offset costs for book signings and events. Find an author to share a table with you to help on the costs of hotel and event rates.

We can also support and buy each other books. We can write reviews and give feedback for authors we enjoy reading. We can also give word-of-mouth of great reads. We can promote others and will see results for our books too. We can also post each other sites or books on our websites for exposure and traffic. This can help new and aspiring authors by promoting, sharing each others information on our sites, and blurbs to write for each other.
