New Book Releases for November

Linda StCyr
November is a hot month for new book releases. Avid book readers should be exited to learn that each week in November has a new book release just waiting to fill our imaginations up with plots, characters and action. Here are just a few of the ones I recommend for curling up in front of the fireplace with:

Stephen King- Full Dark. No Stars.
King's new book is actually four stories in one. It is available for pre-order but won't be released until November 9th. The last collection of King's short stories were published in 2008 in the book Just After Sunset. I personally love King's short stories. I admit, I'm not a fan of his longer works but that is because his writing scares me. However, his short stories make me feel something quickly and that is impressive. After a two year wait, I'm excited to learn about Full Dark. No Stars.

Brandon Sanderson/Robert Jordan- Towers of Midnight (Wheel of Time Book 13)
Yes, Yes, Yes! The new book arrives in stores on November 2nd. This is the thirteenth book in the Wheel of Time series and if you have read any of the books in this series, you will understand why this is so exciting. It is sad that Robert Jordan passed away but his stories go on with the help of Brandon Sanderson who has taken up the pen in his wake, continuing where Jordan left off. I'm personally hoping this book will bring back Moraine Demodred.

James Patterson- Cross Fire (Alex Cross)
Patterson gives us a new Alex Cross novel on November 15, 2010. If you read I, Alex Cross this one is sure to be just as enjoyable with an assassinated congressman and a lobbyist, both of whom were evil, dirty politicians. This is definitely an action packed thriller worth reading.

Patricia Cornwell- Port Mortuary (A Scarpetta Novel)
This is the eighteenth Scarpetta novel available. I highly recommend reading earlier ones first but that is just how I am. All the novels stand alone well and Port Mortuary is no exception. Dr. Kay Scarpetta has become the chief of Cambridge Forensic Center in Massachusetts but her secret past with the military may ruin her both professionally and personally. Port Mortuary is available on November 30th.

Jeff Kinney- Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Ugly Truth
My son would be displeased with me if I failed to mention the newest Diary of a Wimpy Kid book hitting store shelves in November. On November 9th, Kinney will give us more of Greg Heffley's perfectly normal yet awkward life. Greg has lost his best friend and now he must deal with issues like boy-girl parties, puberty and more responsibility. I'm truly excited about reading the newest Diary of a Wimpy Kid book. My 10 year old devours these stories and anything that can keep my 10 year old reading is worth recommending.
