New Boots for Fall 2010

Boots are back in style this fall. Several different styles are mingling this season. From sleek classic riding styles to clunky menswear-inspired motorcycle boots, there's a style option out there for every wardrobe. The mix of styles in fashion are also spawning their own mixtures of various trends. Though some boot styles inevitably come back into fashion as temperatures begin to drop, this year's fall season truly belongs to the boot. Here are some examples of the new boots for fall 2010.

Thigh-High and Over-the-Knee

High boots are back in a big way this fall. From racy styles that go as high as mid-thigh to those that stay a few inches lower, these boots are the perfect complement to skirts, skinny jeans and leggings. Frye's Taylor knee-high boots are available in a range of colors, including a yellow curry shade and eggplant purple. The Kelsi Dagger Sophia1 boots extend past the knee, finishing supple leather with a tie detail and a ruffled edge.

Western

Western boots have made a surprising comeback this fall. Dusty suede, stitched leather and other styles with a Wild West vibe are everywhere. One strong example of this trend are western booties, which got strong coverage in fashion magazines and a full spread in a recent issue of Lucky Magazine. These tan lace-up booties from Swedish Hasbeens scream Old West, while these worn-looking booties by Bronx beg to be topped with a cowboy hat.

Military

Get strict this season with military boots, which pair nicely with the military coats popular for this fall and winter. These are featured in a range of heights, from nearly-flat ankle booties to severe thigh-highs. One standout pair are these oxblood leather boots by Frye, with distressed buckles and a cuffed upper. Steve Madden's Olster boots give the look of a dress uniform, while Lucky Brand's lace-up Blossom boots look like standard issue infantry gear.

Motorcycle

Nothing says tough chic like motorcycle boots. Laces, studs, buckles and fringe all add interest to what might otherwise be boring boots. The Alexa boots by Harley-Davidson make things even more interesting by putting the functional buckles and laces up the back of the boot. These sparkly boots by Giuseppe Zanotti and Carvela's tough studded heeled boots are also examples of this boot trend's spectrum.

Slouch

Slouchy and fold-over boots are also making the rounds this fall. Many slouchy boots correspond with other current boot trends, such as these slouchy western motorcycle boots by Matisse. Other offerings have a style all their own, like these slouchy open-toed ankle boots by Kenneth Cole, or these mid-calf Michael Antonio boots. Many over-the-knee and thigh-high boots this season also have a slouchy style, or the above-the-knee portion can be folded over.
