New Castings for NBC Shows

Are You Ready for Your 15 Minutes of Fame?

Miss Faith
Get your camcorders and pens ready. NBC has a list of casting calls for future reality and game shows. There are going to be some new shows they want to try out, such as one called "Fortune" as well as the regulars such as "The Biggest Loser". So do you think you have what it takes to be a contestant on one of their up coming shows? Here is a list of the shows they are casting for, along with a brief description of the show (if available) as well as what you need to do to submit your application.

The newest addition to the future NBC line up is supposed to be a show named "Fortune". There plan is to take a group of multi-millionaires and let them use some of their money to make a difference in the lives of the contestants that NBC chooses from the pool of entries. They specifically stress that all you need to enter is YOU and a need for money, no singing or dancing involved. Of course you have to be able to impress their pants off in order to get a chance to be a contestant, so what do you need to do to apply? They are looking to be "shocked and awed" within 60 seconds, so whether you go to a casting call or submit a tape, make sure it's good and to the point. They will hold castings in the following cities:

-Detroit, MI at the Detroit Marriott, which is located at the Renaissance Center on Jefferson Avenue. They will be there on January 5th from 9AM until 6PM.

-New Orleans, LA at the Renaissance Pere Marquette Hotel, which is located on 817 Common Street. They will be there on January 5th from 9AM until 6PM.

-New York, NY at the Park Central New York, which is located at 870 Seventh Avenue at 56th Street. They will be there on January 5th from 9AM until 6PM.

-Lexington, KY at the Hyatt Regency Lexington, which is located at 401 West High Street. They will be there on January 7th from 9AM until 6PM.

-St. Louis, MO at the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark, which is located on 1 South Broadway at Market Street. They will be there on January 7th from 9AM until 6PM.

-Houston, TX at the Marriott West Loop by The Galleria, which is located at 1750 West Loop South. They will be there on January 7th from 9AM until 6PM.

-Los Angeles, CA (they have yet to give the location). They will be in L.A on January 9th from 9AM until 6PM.

If you cannot attend an open casting then you can go to the NBC site to get an application and see the submission guidelines. Some of what you need to know is: You must be 18 or older or have a parent or guardians signature, they only want what they list on the submission guidelines (nothing extra), maximum video of 5 minutes with a 1 minute pitch at the beginning, they also have certain video formats (no 8 mm or VHS C), they need to know why you want the money as well as how much and what you would do with it, and the deadline is January 5th. I'm not sure if you have ever looked at an application for a TV show before, but they contain a lot of legal jargon and they also request references along with answering a series of questions. All of this can be viewed on the website I listed at the bottom.

Okay, let's say being on TV is not for you. What about your children? If you have a rather intelligent child between the ages of 9 and 17, then they can apply to be on 1 VS 100. They are looking for "super smart kids that excel in pop culture and trivia". This one ends very soon so if you want to try this one out, hurry. Deadline is December 29th and it is an open call situation only. Meaning they will be having an open call on December 29th from 12PM until 4PM at Culver Studios, which is located at 9336 West Washington Blvd Gate #3 in Culver City, CA. They want a recent copy of a report card, a work permit (if they already have one), and the parent or guardian. If you have questions you can email them at: kidscasting@1vs100.tv .

Okay, so you don't think you could qualify for Fortune and you don't have kids or kids that are interested in 1 VS 100, so how about losing a little weight? Yes you guessed it, the Biggest Loser is going to be back yet again. They haven't released any details about what the next season will entail, but they do give the submission guidelines. If interested, make a 5 minute (no longer) video using DVD, VHS, or mini DV and submit along with the application. You can get the address and application link listed at the bottom.

So, speaking of eating or cooking rather, did you know that Bravo is affiliated with NBC? Well they are and they are introducing the next season of Top Chef. Contestants can compete for a prize of $100,000. The link for Bravo TV is listed below if you are interested in spicing things up and becoming a top chef.

Just when you thought the list was over, boy were you wrong. NBC has a huge casting of shows coming up. Here are some of the newer show ideas they need contestants for:

-"The Ultimate Wedding Story" which is for couples that are getting married in Las Vegas sometime in February 2007 through April 2007. You have to be 21 or over and participants will receive a wedding prize package of cash and goods/services.

-"Top Hair" which is on Bravo TV. This is a creation of the producers of The Office, Blow Out, and The Biggest Loser. This is going to be a show for talented hairstylist. So we have the next Top Model, the Top Chef, the top designer (Project Runway), and now the top Hair Stylist. Go figure.

-"Character Fantasy" which is on USA Network (also affiliated with NBC). This is a show where they are going to take people and basically unleash their alter ego or make them over to look like a celebrity. Do you have a fantasy? Then check out the link at the bottom.

-"Character Road Trip" which is also on USA Network. They are looking for hidden talents and qualities or wild and unforgettable personalities. It can be anything from an odd collection to living your life impersonating someone like Elvis. They will be traveling the country and showing new locations of people every week. Interested? Then follow the link at the bottom.

Last but not least is Deal or No Deal. If you want to try your chance at winning up to $1,000,000 then they want the basic submissions, like most of their other shows. Send a video with an application and a recent photo for your chance to meet Howie and the case carrying beauties. Guidelines for submissions can be found through the link located at the bottom of the page.

So there you have it. All of these casting for shows and that was only for one network. Imagine the possibilities there are on the rest of the channels! At this rate, everyone in America will have there 15 minutes of fame before there time is up. The question is: which show will you choose to be a contestant for? Or better yet, does it matter? With so many castings, if you don't get on one then there will always be another. I bet Sony sees nothing but dollar signs from all of the camcorders and disks/tapes that are being purchased for such things. Isn't America great?

  • NBC's newest show, "Fortune" will have multi-millionaires giving money to poor schmucks like you and me.
  • Do you have a little genius? 1 VS 100 is looking for smart kids 9-17 years old.
  • With all of the other "Top" shows (Model, Chef, Fashion Designer), why not have "Top Hair" for hair stylists?
