New Cheesecake Factory in Murray, Utah: Restaurant Review

SE
I love eating out, and I love Italian food. More importantly, I love the Cheesecake Factory. I lived in Colorado for several years and loved going to the Denver location. Needless to say I was delighted when I moved to Utah and found that a brand new Cheesecake Factory had been built within a half hour of my home. After all, I can't be having any Cheesecake Factory withdrawals.

As a somewhat frequent visitor to the Cheesecake Factory in Denver, I hold high expectations for this restaurant chain. This location is run well and I've never been disappointed. The new location at 6223 S. State Street in Murray, Utah had a lot to live up to. For the most part, it lived up to expectations. The food was great as always and prices were typical of other Cheesecake Factory locations. However, service was lacking just a bit. The food - bread, entrée, and dessert - all lived up to expectations. One of my favorite parts of eating at this restaurant is the opportunity to try something other than the typical spaghetti with marinara or fettuccini alfredo. When visiting the new location in Murray, Utah I seized the opportunity to try a dish I had not had before: spicy chicken chipotle pasta. The creamy sauce that accompanied this dish was excellent. It was spicy enough to have a great kick, but not so spicy that those faint of heart would be scared off.

I feel I'd be doing the Cheesecake Factory a bit of a disservice if I didn't mention dessert. Of course I'm talking about cheesecake. Forget the pasta, this is what many people really go to this restaurant for. I was pleased to know that regardless of location, the cheesecake was up to par. I normally can't eat dairy (lactose intolerant) but this cheesecake is so amazing it's worth it.

Prices at any Cheesecake Factory can be a bit steep, but a determined customer can go to this restaurant without breaking the bank too badly. If you shy away from alcoholic beverages, share an entrée (they're huge!), and split dessert, you can minimize impact. The cheesecake here is so good you may not want to share, but after loading up on pasta it's almost impossible to eat a slice of the wonderfully rich stuff by yourself.

Initially, the service at this new Utah location was not at all what I've come to expect of this usually great franchise. Yes, the wait for a table was long, but that was to be expected since the restaurant was still very new at the time, and is the only one in the state. Once we were seated, we sat at our table for ten minutes without our server even greeting us, let alone taking drink orders. Meanwhile, those seated after us were being attended to. However, the staff here handled the situation correctly. We notified a supervisor of the situation and within seconds a manager was taking our order and making sure our server came to take care of us.

Overall, I was quite pleased with my visit to the Cheesecake Factory at the Murray, Utah location. The slip up with the service was not enough to alienate me, as management did remedy the situation quite quickly.
