Only a hand full of stores in the Greater Cleveland area offer these select styles and Team 1917 is stepping into the market with out of this world discounts. The store is doing things to give the community what they ask for specifically. In April, the company took a survey of area shoppers to find out what they liked to wear and why. Camouflaged hoodies, zipper-designed hoodies, and personalized tee-shirts were highly rated. Tennis Shoes seemed to be transitioning from the classic Micheal Jordan's to the complementary colored Bathing Apes; and the Greedy Genius. It seems that shoppers are not so much influenced by athletes, now days, as they are by cleverly placed colors that steal the attention from patterned self -images. The traditional blue jeans were also a thing of the past according to the survey. 7 out of 10 kids chose dark jeans with colors of contrast added in abstract ways. This two part survey focused on actual merchandise and then it had questions sole pertaining to style and design. To much surprise; blue, green, and purple beat out previously popular colors like brown, red, and orange. Todays shoppers liked yellow, orange, and green better than they like red, black, and white.

On Saturday, I had a chance to meet with the store owner and he shared why he goes the extra mile to find out what the customers really want. Cel the owner said, in Cleveland, the customer is force - fed clothing styles; fads and trends are fully captured here and as a result the customers are left without many options. He noted the deplorable condition of area malls, the over-priced items at store plazas, and the extremely out - dated fashions in the outlet stores. On July, 27th Cel will hold the Grand Opening for the Store Team 1917, Inc. with discounts ranging from 30% to 40% on select items including Bathing Ape, Rock-A-Wear, Sean Jean, Rock Stars, Greedy Genius etc.... The store owner's father was very helpful in encouraging him to pursue the industry, Cel's father said he could remember back in the early 90's when, Giant Tigers on Euclid Avenue, sold Lacosta shirts with the alligator patch for $3. One would not think that some ten years later the exact same shirt would be sold for $70 and up in department stores. Cel said he's pursuing the business because it needs a new, fresh, and creative look overall and seeing the response to his outreach, the community wants the same thing.
