New Developments After the Casey Anthony Verdict Include Caylee's Law and a Tribute Song to Caylee Marie

The Drama Continues

We have not heard the last of Casey Anthony, the young mother found innocent in the murder of her 2 year old daughter Caylee Marie, and probably never will. Since the verdict was read on July 5th new information continues to be released.

Casey will be free on July 17th. Where she will go remains a mystery. Public outrage is a strong factor in her personal safety. Like OJ Simpson she will be a social pariah foreve but she is woman, young and vulnerable.

Pinellas county, Florida, from where the jurors were chosen, is waging a "jurists not welcome" campaign. Judge Belvin Perry has not yet released the names and addresses of the jury, citing a necessary cooling off period.

"Zanny the Nanny" is suing Casey Anthony for "defamation of character" in civil court. Zenaida Gonzalez has hired well known Florida attorney, John Morgan. Papers were served to Anthony this week and a pretrial hearing is scheduled for January 10, 2012. Former Florida governor Charlie Crist is a member of the firm.

Four of the young men, who possibly fathered Caylee Marie are all dead. They all died in separate auto accidents during 2007.

Casey has refused to meet with her mother this week. She has not spoken to her mother for two years.

During a severe thunderstorm yesterday, lightning struck a tree on the site where Caylee Marie's remains were found. The tree burst into flames.

Florida lawmakers in response to the case, have introduced "Caylee's Law " making it a felony for a parent or caretaker not to report a child missing or dead within a certain time frame. Presently not reporting a child missing is a misdemeanor.

Rep. Scott Plakon, co-sponsor of the law said, "For Casey Anthony to be able to got out and party for 31 days, and mislead law enforcement, is wrong. This bill says it should be illegal to do such a thing."

A national movement to pass Caylee's Law has also sprung up. Online petitions are available including Facebook. Unfortunately the law will not affect Casey Anthony.

Rascal Flatts singer Gary LeVox along with Cledus T. Judd and Jimmy Yeary have co written a tribute song to Caylee Marie "She's Going Places." The song ponders all the things the little girl should be doing and never got the chance to do. The song goes on imagining Caylee Marie in a better place. Listen to it and your heart will break.

I don't think we've heard the last of her. No matter where she goes, there'll be people pointing angry fingers at her.

Oh my goodness. I don't know if I dare listen to the song, breaking hearts are hard to mend. The tree struck by lightening is to significant for words. If you want to help the kids who haven't been killed yet check out Royal Family Kids Camp.

Memmay - I started to listen to the song, haunted by her angelic face and wept. How could someone steal her little life away?! I cannot imagine it. God in Heaven must be weeping, cheers my friend

The tree bursting into flames, how symbolic. We'll be hearing lots more in the future about her problems and hopefully one day she will get the punishment she deserves.

Excellent article, although I must point out that Casey Anthony was not found "innocent" of the murder of her daughter; she was found "not guilty." There is a legal distinction here that is commonly missed, especially by the media. "Innocent" means the person was found to be actually innocent of the crime; they actually didn't do it. "Not guilty" means the prosecution didn't prove its case well enough to convict. I don't think anybody believes for a moment that Casey Anthony is innocent of killing Caylee. I certainly don't. But the state failed to prove that she did it beyond a reasonable doubt, and so she was rightfully found "not guilty."
