New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts ( + 6) = There has been more money wagered on this game than all of the other NFL games this weekend combined! Wow. So, I guess I sort of have to take a stand, right? Well, I'm definitely taking one! In the past the Patriots beat the Colts because the Colts lacked a running game. In the past, the Colts beat the Patriots because the Patriots just weren't as good as years past.
This is the first REAL game between these two juggernauts because the Colts and Patriots are both stacked on each side of the ball. You've got the high-flying Patriots versus the architect, Tony Dungy, of the Tampa 2 Cover Defense. You've got arguably two of the top five greatest quarterbacks to every play in Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. You've got receivers galore!
So, why do I like the Colts? Two words - - BOB SANDERS. Sanders all but shuts down Colts' opponents' running games. By making the running game a moot point, Brady will have to throw to Welker, Stallworth, and Moss. Yes, I know, those three are pretty awesome together, but throwin the ball is what the Tampa 2 wants you to do.
The success of the Tampa 2 is based on not stopping the pass but stopping the run. The Colts biggest worry in this game is actually finding a way to keep the Patriots' offense off the field. The Patriots biggest worry is keeping the Colts offense off the field. With a better running game than the Patriots, in Joseph Addai and Kenton Keith, the Colts have the better chance to win.
Now, I could be wrong here, as I often am, but the Colts are at home where the trend says - - Go Colts! Go Long! Go Hard!
Put your money on the Colts and then call me an idiot on Monday if I did get it wrong!

Post a CommentI have to disagree here. Belichick is a genius and the Patriots are stacked with talent. Indianapolis may have a good team, but it's not good enough to counteract these two facts. And as for the Tampa 2 Cover, the Washington Redskins were supposed to have one of the top defenses in the league, and the Patriots made their secondary look like a high school B team. My prediction is 38-24, Patriots.
Indiana (+6) is quite tempting and more favourable than the Colts winning the game. The Colts will keep things tight, but I hope the Patriots will not blow up on them and score on a blowout. I had them both scoring less than 57 points though, that is also more feasible, but it can also be wrong.
