New England Summer Events 2008

Traveling to New England this summer enjoy two festivals supporting pride in the Italian heritage.

- August 5-10, 2008 - Rhode Island International Film Festival is screening 8 Italian feature length films, the events/schedule link is:

~ a 7-day event beginning the second week in August; always starting on a Tuesday at various locations throughout the State of Rhode Island with premiere works in the capital city of Providence;
~ the largest public film festival in New England and an Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences qualifying event;

~ the major portal of entry for filmmakers to discover the Ocean State as a center for film development and production;

~ a unique platform for the creative and cultural discovery of new cinematic talent, both at home, nationally and globally;

~ synonymous with sophisticated, savvy, discerning and film-loving audiences

- August 7-11, 2008 - Providence, RI Italian Arts and Music Festival

Concerts by legends such as Al Martino, These Three Tenors, Frank Tenaglia, Giada Valenti, Joey Welz, Bobby Alto & Buddy Mantia, Giuseppe Taormina, Mario Tacca & Mary Mancini,, Maria Perry, Julian Sage, Tre Bella, Dan Colingo, Moreno Fruzzetti, Tony Spavone, Cory Pesaturo, Michael Ciulla, Pat Capuzzi and Dominic Mantuano, comprise non-stop live entertainment from opening to closing each day, on two stages. Visit the Opera Pavilion featuring exhibits from the Enrico Caruso Museum in New York City and the Lanza Legend Archives in Los Angeles, the Steve Kaufman art exhibit at the Renaissance Providence Hotel, dozens of food and beverage stations throughout the festival grounds, and many vendors of souvenirs and Italian-style goodies, including a location for purchasing the recorded materials of the featured performers.

SAG/AFTRA/AEA/GIAA member and actor Carson Grant is conducting a workshop at the RIIFF.

- August 9th, 2008 - Competing as an Actor in the Digital Age

Presented by actor/director, Carson Grant, www.carsongrant.com Time: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This workshop will help to organize your acting career to compete within this new media technology. Participants will begin to identify their skills and talents in order to establish an Internet presence, explore how to compete for auditions with legit and commercial casting directors, and independently submit to casting in theater, film, webcasts, print and commercials. Participants are asked to bring their headshot, resumes, portfolios, and a one-minute monologue, (plus pen and notebook).
