New Hampshire Voted Best State to Live in 4th Year in a Row

For the 4th year in a row, New Hampshire was voted The Most Liveable State in the USA for families, according to a press release from Morgan Quitno Press of Lawrence, Kansas.

For the past 17 years the publication has released its rankings of each state as to which is the best for raising a family and being able to feel safe at the same time in your home and community. New Hampshire has ranked well for its population per area, low crime statistics, high education standards and programs available to help families get into their own homes.

New Hampshire ranks lowest in the nation for the amount of people who live there with a 2006 figure of 1,314,895 living in just under 500,000 dwellings. The guide also says that The Granite State is very family friendly and elderly friendly with many programs offered by the state and local communities to help young families with child care and helping the elderly keep active. The publication judges each of the 50 states in over 550 categories from the most important issues residents have on their minds to the ones people would never even think about. Scott Morgan, President of Morgan Quitno Press said in a press release, "New Hampshire does an outstanding job in a number of quality of life areas. The state has the lowest crime and poverty rates in the country. In addition, the citizens of New Hampshire are employed, well educated and involved in their communities."

The guide is an interesting read for anyone who wants to find out more information about where their state ranks with each of the categories used to rank the states. It is also a very helpful guide to anyone debating a move out of the state they are living in now. Education statistics are big with the guide as are health care, response times for hospital waits, public safety, response times for police, medical and fire and statistics for the overall environment of the state.

New Hampshire was also noted as having a rich amount of outdoor activities for families, couples and individuals to partake in.

Rounding out the top 5 spots with New Hampshire are Minnesota, Wyoming, Utah and New Jersey. The study states each of the other top 5 states demonstrated the same qualities used in determining what makes a state an enjoyable place to live in.

Morgan Quitno Press also gives out yearly awards to coincide with their other reference guides for Safest City and Metro Area, Healthiest State to Live In, Smartest States and Most Improved States.

@ Shana- get over yourself. No one cares how egotistical you are.

I live in a "great" city in NH and can tell you it's not the best! The schools are ranked highest in the state and yet my daughter is 2 years ahead (for her age) and still is not challenged. We moved there because of the small town feeling, low crime, and great schools. I don't see that living there, we constantly have problems with the juveniles in the neighborhood in which the police state there is nothing that they can do other than speak with their parents. The property taxes and fees, registrations for everything, etc. just let me know that I'll take a state tax any day. In my opinion, if you're planning on a move, visit for more than a week and talk to residents and teachers alike for honest opinions on the neighborhoods and cities. NH is not the best!

It depends where you live. My family still lives there and some have positive things to say about the cost of living and others are struggling with $4000 in taxes yearly.

I would love to move out of the city that I live in right now (Syracuse) and move to New Hampshire with my family. It seems so beautiful and peaceful there. But I'm assuming that it's probably pretty expensive right?
