New Healthy, Energy Drinks Have Superior Ingredients

Guarana and Stevia are Making Our Drinks Healthier

As the older energy drinks fizz out, healthy energy drinks are starting to take their place. The usual mountains of sugar and caffeine are being replaced by more natural ingredients like stevia, a substance about 30 times sweeter than sugar. The caffeine junkies are finding out about an ingredient from Brazil called guarana that is similar to caffeine but does not dissolve in water; it is time released inside our bodies. This natural superiority of healthy energy drinks is taking its toll on those older junk energy drinks that ruled the market in the years past. Let's take a look at some of these new ingredients and what it is that makes up a good healthy energy drink.

Guarana is usually taken from the seeds of the plant by the same name, and used in newer healthy energy drinks. A new drink called ACT (Advanced Cell Therapy ) has this ingredient. Brazilians have used it many of their carbonated soft drinks for energy and for stimulation. But guarana has something in it called theobromine. Theobromine is the ingredient in real chocolate that gives chocolate its "feel good" effect when eaten. Since guarana has this "feel good" ingredient also, look for those healthy energy drinks that contain guarana instead of caffeine. Did you know the energy drink Red Bull was banned in France? They banned it and said it had "too much caffeine". Caffeine is water soluble, that is it dissolves in water, and is absorbed quickly in our bodies, since we are made with lots of water. Guarana is not water soluble, and will dissolve more slowly inside our bodies, making the energy effect last longer, without that characteristic "spike" of caffeine. The better healthy energy drinks will go ahead and use guarana instead of caffeine since it lasts longer and is therefore superior.

Artificial sweeteners are a no-no in healthy energy drinks. Sucralose is made of fifty per cent chlorine. Aspartame has been described as one of the most dangerous things you could add to your food. Sucralose goes by many names in the marketplace. Aspartame is made up of forty per cent aspartic acid. Pregnant women should not use aspartame. It literally kills neurons in the brain, slowly but surely. Since the blood brain barrier in children is not fully developed, their developing brains are particularly open to the damaging effects of aspartame. Aspartic acid is also changed, as a normal chemical function of our bodies, into something called formic acid. This acid is the poison a fire ant injects when it bites. Can you imagine actually taking this into your body ? No thanks, I think I will stick with this new healthy energy drink trend where natural is certainly better than trying to avoid those artificial sweeteners.

Stevia is used to sweeten healthy energy drinks. Again, it is natural, and has many positive ingredients inside. The country of Paraguay calls stevia the "honey leaf". The indians of Paraguay have been using it for centuries. It has taken us "civilized" folk quite a while to discover what they have known since Columbus was sailing the "ocean blue". Good quality stevia is thirty times sweeter than sugar. Look for the stevia ingredient when you look for healthy energy drinks. Please stay away from aspartame.

Other safe ingredients in healthy energy drinks are taurine, creatine, green tea, ginseng, and B vitamins. The B vitamins allow your body to actually put to use the energy your body has. In other words, B vitamins act as the helper to enable your cells to use energy with increased efficiency. This would contribute to less energy being converted into fat and instead being burned in a healthy way. Please do not settle for second best when you look for a healthy energy drink. You no longer have to settle for the "jitters" when you drink an energy drink thanks to companies doing their homework on nutrition. You probably did not come from a test tube, and even if you did, natural is still better. Drink healthy energy drinks that are natural also.
